After watching 8 out of 10 cats I didnt think this was a thing but I had a look. Lo and behold...

No.

But it is American.

Until the late 70's courtesy of my mum I thought a curry was

Either

a) Made with mince and sultanas
or
b) Vesta

At this point, refrigerators became common in US homes.

Consumers needed to know what to make using them, hence the moulded 'salads' in gelatine.

My mother was equally guilty. Everything she made in the 1970 s had kiwi fruit slices all over it, covered in aspic.

Big Jell-O looked to be going all out back in those days. Like they were trying to fashion it into the default medium into which ingredients are held for any meal of the day.
