I have a BMW 1 series 118i msport 65 plate and I would like to fit a detachable tow bar for a bike rack. Can anyone recommend a good make and if it is possible as I have had some places say they can't do it. Thanks

IMHO, it's Westfalia every day of the week

Best engineered bars I've ever fitted.
Instructions can be a little Ikea though.

Have you got a bike rack, or one in mind?

Fixing is important, especially if you have more than one bike on board.
Witter do a detachable that has the "old" type flange fitting, so the bar can be bolted on to the flange, rather than clamping on the ball.

Little point in getting dedicated electrics - 7 way relay will be adequate.

Thanks Mike for your tip/reply - I have just been on the Westfalia site and unfortunately it states that I would need to change the rear exhaust silencer which I'd rather not do.

I have stopped looking a bike racks at the moment until I can determine if I can get a towbar sourced. Will look at the whitter one at some stage.

Will continue my quest .....

I take it you have the B38 or N20 engine then.

Try Bosal

Might be worth an email to them to confirm fitment is ok for your car.

Bosal are Dutch but well known in the UK.
