Hi all, can anyone tell me what mpg they get from their S3? I’m looking at a 17/67 plate that says around 40 but I would think this is incredibly optimistic but would like to know how low it goes. Will be doing around 15k per year. Cheers

Quoted mpg is meaningless. Hardly a twin turbocharged V12 power plant either.

North Kent to Manchester airport - about 32mpg (M25, M1 and then via M6 toll ....). Not thrapsing the @rse off of it - but not sparing the horses either.

Blat from Calais to Brussels very early morning, about 18 mpg .....

Drive it like you stole it, and easily below 20.

Thanks, 32 was probably what I would have expected for that sort of journey, I can live with that.

Similar sort of numbers - we have a '17 manual and it is showing 29mpg to date after 3,000 miles.

Combination of journeys but included a Le Mans visit.

I average just under 29mpg (brim to brim fills and tracking on an app) out of a DSG equipped Golf R which is broadly similar to the S3 with S-Tronic- maybe 50kg or so heavier.

29 normal driving, 12-14 on a track day. That’s a manual I imagine DSG is better.

As a PH'er surely this isnt a question you have to ask??

Id always say a 2.0T is going to average 25-30mpg if you give it a bit of stick every now and then. But maybe 35mpg on a run with a light foot.

TTS (manual) so more or less the same thing......

Average commute (65 mile round trip using M3, M25 and A40 with plenty of stop start) gets me 34mpg.
Nice easy motorway stuff gets me 37-38mpg
The rest tends to be around 32mpg

Normally see 32/33 on commute in late S3, just under 30 if traffic is atrocious. More like 37/8 if traffic light.

Drove to work, like a granny to see what I could get. Wanted to get over 40mpg, couldn't but close. 20 minute drive over a mixture of motorway and narrow B road.

15 plate DSG.

I see things have not improved that much
My old old S3 8P S-tronic would do 28 normal and 36 on a run (I know completely irrelevant and different vehicle!)

In a 2016 RS3, average is around 31mpg over last 30k miles.
Mix of all types of driving, including a few runs to s of France at 130km/h for most of the trips through France.

Whereas I struggled to go past 32 on 99 RON - having had several of each in my experience the newer car is something like 20% better on fuel.
