What's the average age where you completely lose sex drive?

50? 60? 70?

I'm 32 and average once per week which I guess is average for my age.

What's yours?

I'm 28 and still want it 5-6 times an hour. The Mrs insists that this is far too much though and it should only be on Birthdays and Christmas. We settle for whenever I show her a good evening and do the romantic stuff.

Sounds like fun! She'd be gone.

Put out more before the kid came along. dried up since then. I grew up in a single parent family and wouldn't do the same to my own kid unless the relationship went south and it affected him.

She has her plus points, having sex just isn't one of them. Still, Porn hub is ok I guess.

Between the ages of 30 – 40 a man's testosterone levels fall by about 1% every year. While high enough to be measured, the effects won't really be noticeable during this decade. However, after the age of 40 many men start to experience a loss of sex drive due to decreased testosterone levels.
Everyone's sex drive is different – there's no such thing as a "normal" .

My advice would be talk to her openly about it, don't put her under any pressure, she will resent it, women very rarely want (or need) it as much as men once they have settled down into a relationship. (Obviously there are exceptions)

I wonder how many relationships will suffer once the Conservative porn ban comes in?

Mentally the sex drive is still there at 56 but physically it's a lot lower.

Once a week if I'm lucky these days.

Other things compensate though - like a nice cup of tea 😉

Testosterone levels, as said above have a huge impact. I've recently started Testosrterone replacement therapy after finding out my T levels are very low indeed. I was exhausted all the time and had no ability to concentrate. I had no desire for anything, daily hot flushes, constant low mood and wobbly emotions such that I cried at the end of Paddington 2.

A few weeks after starting the gels and I feel much better, higher concentration, better mood etc. The other, more obvious upside, is the fact that in the monring I feel better to the extent that I reckon I'd be able to poke holes through a cheap door.

It feels like men in general are less affected by hormones, and while we can try to understand the ups and downs that a hormonal cycle has on our wives and partners, we can never truly get it until we experience something similar. Having experienced it myself, hormones are bloody powerful.

At 51 I’m a loving machine. I know all the moves and could give any woman the time of her life.
Unfortunately I’m worn out most of the time nowadays and can’t be arsed any more.
What a waste wink

I have lost mine somewhat, due to my medication for depression.

We average , probably, two or three times a week.

At the minute it's more on her to start due to the fact that I have no real drive but once we start then it's duracell bunnies at the ready.... problem is she is quite shy so doesn't really like starting as such!

Having kids does concern me that it would then dry up...not planning on kids for several more years so maybe I can bank some shags.

Of course you do, you now have the t of a 20 year old flowing through your body. Unless you intend taking tr for the rest of your life I'd see about reducing the patch strength to a more realistic level for a man of your age. Unless you are actually 20...biggrin

How did you find out about and what was the test for testosterone out of interest? I had a standard blood test last week and wonder if that was part of what they look for.
What are 'gels'?

I have three young children, so I thought that feeling a complete wreck most of the time was normal. However I started to get regular and persistent hot flushes, which are normally only experienced by people with prostate cancer on medication to artificially minimise their testosterone (aopparently it can accelerate prostate tumours).

I went to the Doctor's and explained the above, he took a few blood tests to figure out what was happenning (and rule out other things) and I'm now seeing an endocriniologist who diagnosed it as primary testicular failure. She recommended I start Testogel. This is a sachet of alcoholic gel that you rub on you shoulders / arms each morning, the testosterone is absorbed through your skin. It takes a little while to build up to a normal level, and by all that's holy I felt so much better as a result. More energy, less flabby, mood not as low and renewed interest in sex.

You can also have an injection every months to avoid the hassle of the daily gels. Some people prefer this, but I tried this recently and it didn't work for me at all (the hot flushes are back) so I'm seein the Doc next week to go back on the gels.

Causes of primary failure (as per my case) are unclear, but I had mumps when i was small. I went to the endocrinologist and she (yes,it would have been a she, wouldn't it) said my nuts are pretty small so it's possible they were damaged as a result.

Just to put the above in context, my "normal" test is low enough that I fall within the (quite broad) rules to enter women's sport events.
