Never liked black due to being very hard to keep clean and I dont think it does justice to beautiful styling etc. But I'm struggling to find used axamples of my desired car in the colour I want. Trying to decide if I can fall in love with black (with a slight metallic flek) - what do you think....

Personally no I wouldn’t. I think you need to be seen by other road users, more so in a low car.

No, for the reasons you've given. Furthermore, if this is to be a dream purchase, why settle for a colour you don't like?

Can depend on the car in question.
Personally I don't like black cars as a general rule as they are a nightmare to keep clean, show all the marks and hide the lines of a car but some ( not many ) cars look best in black IMHO eg Ferrari 599 or AM V12v or DBS

I struggle to understand why people dislike black cars.

My car is black, yes it has swirls but when it's clean and waxed they are hardly noticeable unless you're close up. Add in the natural shine and I'd always go for a black car.

My daily driver is silver and it doesn't shine as much.

I would only ever buy a Porsche 911 in the colour black.

I'd certainly have a black supercar, especially given they are driven less than other cars and usually only in decent weather.

A nicely buffed black Ferrari certainly looks much nicer than the usual Rosso Corsa.

With modern detailing products, black cars are very easy to keep clean and glossy and swirl-free.

A water-filter keeps the white limescale stains off, a polisher / blowdryer keep the swirls off, a good ceramic coating keeps the muck off, and decent PPF stops the road-rash.

Black looks good on any car and any model and any pricepoint.

But, you can make a provenance argument that some models should follow their perceived "signature" colours, For example, red Ferrari or shouty green Lambo.

Blacks far too drug dealer/knightrider/nightrider for most supercars.

Nightmare to keep clean. Shows scratches. Shows dust.

Hides the lines.

Little road presence.

Unsafe colour for a rapid car.

Looks like a taxi.

Only advantage is it's easy to paintmatch for a respray.

The OP should check the classifieds. Black is the most popular or second most popular for all of the supercar brands. Orange pushes it to second for Mclaren , and obviously Red pushes it to second for Ferrari. Otherwise on Autotrader black is the colour with the most supercars for sale. That should answer the question?!

Black may be a popular colour but Macdonalds is a popular errrr...'food'.

Enough said.
