and if it's buying from a specialist not servicing you are looking for try Adrian Blyth, near Dave Batty.

Some people will be aware that I'm nosing around at the S series... and I'm looking for someone who could take a look around a prospective purchase and do the servicing etc etc...

Cheers for the replies.

Podie - I sourced a car and used Rob Ingleby just to do the inspection and check it out. E-mail me to find out the cost but v happy and he prepared a full report to send to prospective buyers when I sell the car. He will go anywher eso geography no problem.

Cheers mate - I'll bear that in mind when I come to take the plunge.

Out of curiosity, how much are you paying on insurance?

£1200

24 with either 4 or 5 years NCB (cant remember) - thats obviously comp but it cost me about £200 to have protected No claims. Went protected as would have paid for repairs from car park knocks etc myself previously if some arsehole had driven off without leaving details. Looked at the potential cost if such a thing happened with fibreglass - think i'll protect my NCB thanks! Plus if I did have a fault claim I would have to drive a shitemobile for a few years and just dont think i could handle that!

Apparently it will decrease by a fair amount after a years ownership just cos you've had a Tiv and managed to avoid smashing it in the first year. Might try shopping around a bit more when i can be arsed too - lots of people have mentionned cheap classic policies.

shnozz - cheers for the info. I'm in a similar position with regards to age and NCB and agree that the NCB protection is worth the extra (sod's law and that).

I'll be nosing around for classic policies, and since it would be my second car, I'll probably put a mileage limit on it too. I'll let you know how I get on...
