Flashing spanner is usually immobiliser or ecu not coded correctly.

And do you mean ecu, or edu ? Is the edu not normally fitted to some of the basic diesel models ? not petrols ?

I had this problem when changing an engine in a Vectra, to get it going quickly I just put on its original ECU which does have a fault.Later I tried changing over the indicator/wiper stalk ignition switch assembly and the ECU from the now fitted engine but got the same result as you, I think the whole system has to coded to the body module but unfortunately you cant recode to your cars body module as its already coded to the other car.

I enquired from vauxhall whether I could recode the ECU to my car but was told to do this I would have needed to wipe the existing coding whilst the original car was still complete and in running order.

To swap, any coded items need to be reset prior to removal from the donor car. Or in some cases if you have the security code for the item, it can be reset in the destination vehicle and then re-coded to that vehicle ( which of course you also need the security code for )

Although not sure on this "edu" they mention. Certainly on the 1.7 basic diesel engines the edu is not a coded item and can easily be changed by anyone.

So it really depends what he is swapping etc.

If you do not have security codes etc etc then there are people out there who say they can rectify these problems or provide codes.
I havent used them myself, but this is one guy. This sort of stuff is above and beyond what Vauxcom/Tech2 is able to do although with correct codes etc then Vauxcom or Tech2 would be able to sort the OP's problem

Thanks . My mistake it's meant to be the ECU. A bit more info with the cars original fuse board I get two faults " wrong environment identifier received UEC and REC.
When I put the matching fuse board in I get same errors but lots of CAN Bus no come errors. I'm sure it's the fuse board but there must be some conections not made and would account for the loss of power to all the dash. Cheers

It doesnt need tested, he needs the parts he fitted coded into the car.
