Hi guys I have a 2014 bmw 318d sport iv just been at the light and accelerated quicker than usual and when I stopped at the next giveway there was some blue smoke it only lasted for a couple of seconds and have not seen it since any ideas I thought it might be burn off of excess oil or is it...
Well blue smoke is a sure fire way way to tell if oil is being burnt.
If by accelerated away more than usual you put more revs through the engine, then it may mean that the piston rings, valve seals or maybe PCV are wearing.
Do you know if you have overfilled the oil? As for whether it'll burn off, that depends on whether your engine uses oil normally.
How long have you had the car?

My two suggestions would be -
Check the oil level isn't reading high
Check to see if it is only when accelerating - if it is, it'll be valve stem seals.
Depending on who / what / where you bought the car you may have some recourse, but seals will wear - how many miles are on the car? Assuming the engine was nice and warm as well?

It's not blowing on acceleration it only happened for a few second on stopping and disappeared it was owned by BMW themself's and was a staff car it's done 94000 with full intensive history but it wasn't a BMW dealership I buught it from. I have contacted BMW and was told it was sold as a bulk buy poll cars in December.
So many potential issues, but I don't know the BMW diesel engines.
If the dealer serviced it they may have used a cheap / unsuitable oil. Could try an oil service. Also, run your finger around the inside of the exhaust pipe, if it's sooty but dry ok, if it's sooty and oily then it's definitely burning oil.
I wouldn't be too concerned. If it starts getting worse then I'd have it looked at.
Also, worth talking to who you bought it from....just to sound them out.

Yeah I've just checked the exhaust it's dry and I've just checked the dipstick as it's been on the drive for about 4 hours now and it dose look like it's been overfilled I'll check again in the morning, I was advised to buy a bm as was told they are quite a solid unit always had a ford thanks for answering my question
