Ideas for a boys 50th
Discussion
It a friend’s 50th birthday coming up and with 4 of us in total (all guys), plus possibly some others, I’m wondering where we should go and what we should do. Assuming he isn’t the oldest person in the world at 50, many of you must have done something for your 50th so what ideas can you give us?
Because none of us are mentally much older than 18
drinking and partying would be good, but not essential, as there are bars everywhere. We’re looking at a weekend in Europe, anywhere from Amsterdam to Tenerife (although we were these recently) but are open to ideas.

I'e just come back from a mates 50th although I'm still sub 45 so much much younger. We went to Berlin. Easy to get to and lots to see and do. Through the day we did the usual tourist sights (with the odd Weissbier on our route) and plenty of bars and night spots at night. Lots for all and if the old timers are tired of walking you can get on the tourist bus which lets you hop on and off all day so you get to the different locations and take in the history via headphones. In fact the time I was there before that we hired bikes and did some sight seeing that way. There's a little place does that near the hotel we used (Raddison Blu).

Budapest, you can't beat it. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming both times we've been, great food, great drinks, great sights. Get an Air B'n'B in the old Jewish quarter and spend your evenings in the ruin bars, you'll love it.
100% this. Budapest is quality. Go to the Spa Party too, you'll love it. Frank7 said:
Budapest IS a great place, ditto Prague, but I wasn’t in either for a party.
Warsaw is fantastic, but for a guys weekend, I’d opt for Kraków, Poland.
Two other good options are Madrid, and Valencia, Spain.
Yeah I must admit, I did Budapest with Mrs Toon and another couple. I'm sure it's also geared up for less romantic gatherings though. My mate went to a shooting club and said it was a brilliant experience and much cheaper than other ranges he's been to. They had themed packs so you could do a WW2 experience among others. Not sure if the OP and his mates would enjoy this or not.Warsaw is fantastic, but for a guys weekend, I’d opt for Kraków, Poland.

I've done Berlin as couples and with the lads and it was great for both.
I've not tried Warsaw yet but know Krakow well. Plenty of really cool bars and some good things to do through the day. Auschwitz is a must and I'm sure the salt mines would appeal to the more mature visitor.
Tallinn is also worth a mention but a bit smaller and maybe less to do. I went with the lads and we ended up just sitting in bars day and night but that was more to do with the company I was with.

If you go, check out Axe-Nation just off the main square for an evening of Axe throwing and beer drinking.
Wroclaw in Poland. Beautiful city, fantastic night life, easy to get to, great value, not over run with idiots and you can go to http://progun.pl/ and shoot the hell out of all sorts!
We went motorcycling in Northern Thailand, on a route called the Mae Hong Son loop.
2 nights in Bangkok, fly to Chaing Rai, pick up the bikes, 4 days on the route, back to Chaing Rai then back to Bangkok for the afters.
Great way to lose a fortnight, and celebrate a birthday. Been back and done it 3 times now !

Can’t verify the night life, but I believe you, and I can affirm its beauty.I spent a few hours there with my Polish girlfriend many years ago, drove there from Katowice.
Don’t screw up like I did, and call it Rocklaw, Wrocław is pronounced vrohts-wahf , the Polish W is like a V, the C like tz, and the l with a little line across it, Ł, like a W.
Warszawa, (Warsaw), is pronounced Varshavuh.
Wherever you go now, every major city in west and east Europe is pretty much the same. Very little to choose between them. They all have the same bar districts, etc.
If you want something memorable, then Moscow, Kiev, Baku and Cairo are good choices.
If you want something reliable, then Amsterdam, Barcelona and Prague are good choices.
