Changing passenger car door
Discussion
Hi All,
My 2006 Mitsubishi Colt CZ2 sustained a whack from another motorist and has a large dent on passenger side front door. Insurance will write it off, but the car is otherwise sound and I want to keep it as my daily workhorse.
I would like to ask the following:
1) How easy it is to replace with a second hand door. Is it a case of removing the bolts shown in pictures below, along with wiring connector and then attaching new door in reverse order?
2) Will the locking mechanism of second hand door still activate from my remote key fob?
3) If the second hand door is a different colour, what is a typical cost for a body shop to respray?

Interested to hear responses to this also. Our car ('15 Fiesta) was hit the other evening while parked - no note or witnesses so trying to avoid going though insurance ideally. Needs a new door and wing mirror so hoping to buy second hand and fit my self. Looks theoretically simple, just worried about alignment and colour matching.
As long as you are reasonably mechanicaly minded it will be an easy swap over
Though most breakers cant be arse't disconecting the wiring harness, you may find
it will be cut through, where it passes through the door to the pillar
So you may have to swap the harness over from your original door
Paintwork will be the biggest issue it is metallic, it will require blends to the front wing and rear door or quarter if its a 3 door
