Why do you let obvious (and I mean painfully, blatantly obvious) persistent trolls get away with posting for so long? Just for clarification, I'm talking about proper trolls; those that post deliberately inflammatory stuff under a veil just thin enough to be able to feign innocence. It's embarrassing. The moderation team will jump on someone for calling a hypothetical woman - someone who doesn't actually exist - a slag but should someone hang around the forums polluting threads like a vast rotting turd at the bottom of a salad bowl then it's fair game?
I believe the moderators, on the whole, do a pretty good job but this tsunami of horsesh*t needs to stop.
And just so I'm explicit about this: HumanDoing, JeffEnthused, MartinVert and StairDominator.

I get what you're saying OP but I think the wider PH community does a reasonably good job of putting trolls back under their bridge and/or using them as a direct source of entertainment.
They don't. Any reaction, positive or negative, is what they need. So long as the post count on the infected thread increases, they're happy. The correct response would be to ignore everything they type but people either can't help themselves (and I'm guilty of that) or they're blissfully unaware they're being trolled. The other side to this is that when people finally start losing their sh*t and telling the troll they need to crawl into a ditch and die of canceraids, it's the angry retort which gets moderated, not the person who needs to crawl into a ditch and di.. never mind.

I don't mind Yipper though.
The thread titled: " Toilet during lesson time."
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Is blatantly one of them. Sure it gets replies from people thinking it's genuine. Me included unfortunately But you realise that its fake and blatantly fake. I have removed my own replies as i dont wish to be contributing to threads that appear to have unhealthy interests in children

You made some pretty unsavoury accusations on that thread so probably a good job you removed your posts.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

How do you know it's fake out of interest, do you know the poster involved ?
Completely agree with OP sentiments, the ones he has named haven't appeared on my radar but so what.
It's clear from the posts that there are trolls about who clearly have no other purpose than to create mischief, even their choice of username sometimes adds to the mix.
Agree moderation is a thankless task, but if up to me there are a few that would be binned straight away. Against this is the argument that once the community has identified them then there is the possibility to ignore and avoid whereas under a new guise that has to be redone.
Desperately needs an ignore button.

One of two things needs to happen:
1) The ability to ignore particular users' posts and their quoted posts and/or;
2) some proactive moderation.
The moderation team are very swift when it comes to dealing with a single off-colour remark but when it comes to the serious problem posters they appear to be totally impotent.

Or maybe they take a more measured, unbiased approach to moderating than those who desperately want to see somebody banned.
No, they really don't. If someone joins Pistonheads, joins a bunch of different threads and starts calling everyone a d*ck before they've even made 50 posts, is that someone you really want to see hanging around?Rawwr said:

Upon questioning it as one cannot remember anything controversial turns out it's part of a thread clean up where dealing with the problem children was just too complicated so several pages of innocent contributions get swept up. But that's a side issue to the subject here, trolls, get shut of them or allow us to do it by other means.

It elicited some rather amusing replies including your swhere you recounted the episode of your old classmate crapping in class How do you know it's fake out of interest, do you know the poster involved ?
I became very uneasy about the thread when I looked at the posters history. This was after my wife caught me chuckling at your and others replies. As she said that posters odd what else have they put up theres something not right there looks like its a bloke getting off on it
So upon checking:
A new poster whose only thread and replies are about the toilet requirements of primary school children
as regards my "pretty unsavoury accusations" I called them out
I believe they are sexually aroused by the subject in other words a likely nonce
There is considerable difference between a poster coming on and saying something like "my child couldn't go to the loo in class and I'm concerned the school/ teachers policy is wrong and I'm concerned they soil themselves" and "I'm a teacher and this is my policy and ........."
Its a troll thread at least and more likely a perv getting kicks

And as for Nigel, two days I will never forget.

An example: click(bait)?
Part of the trick is to look for similar phrases, punctuationIt's no big secret that some posters have duplicate accounts on here. I once messaged one guy who freely admitted it. A few months later one of his accounts was banned. His other one hasn't had many posts from it of late.
Then there are the banned, they may be banned but they don't get damned. (see what I did there a play on words?)
They just come back with another user name and change their style a little bit
