As per the title I'm wondering if anyone has got a Yamaha YSP2700?

I'm considering it for my secondary TV. I was looking at a Naim Mu-so at £1k-ish but noticed that the YPS2700 can be had for £650-ish. I like the idea that it could talk to my Yamaha receiver via the Yamaha MusicCast app (the Naim would need a Chromecast and an optical splitter) and I like the idea of the sub as I do like a bit of bass (and the Naim doesn't look too adjustable).

It would free up money to complete the main TV room where I'm planning on a Panasonic TX50EX750B @ £800 plus 2 additional Monitor Audio Radius's @ £350. (I already have a Yamaha RXV673, the other three MA's and a suitable sub).

In the open plan area I'll wall mount a couple of Monitor Audio Golds and have another sub tucked away out of site. For the amp I'll stick my other Yamaha receiver in the secondary TV room with a Chromecast for Spotity and a CD player for the odd occasion I get a CD out.

So the total budget (for now) would be £1,800.

Currently trying to resist a proper Cambridge Audio or Cyrrus amp for the audio set up (£500/£1,150) and trying to ignore REL subs (£850+) as I'm doing a massive house build and need to get it over the line before serious upgrades.

Anyway, that's just me thinking out loud. Back to the point; has anyone got a YSP2700 and is it any good?

Update; I bought one. Given that the Naim Muso costs nearly £1k getting one of these for £570 is an absolute bargain.

And Yamaha are throwing £120-worth of WX10 wireless speaker in March.

How is it? I'm looking at the same one and also buying a LG OLED at the same time.

Reviews look good.

+1, would be very interested to know as i’m also looking at the LG Oled tv and said soundbar is top of my list at it would see me right on my budget of 2.5k which also includes Xbox 1 X or PS Pro. Prob Xbox for the blue ray ultra.

Quick note, was in Curry’s earlier and 55 inch LG Oled is currently £1499.00

The guy was pushing a stunning Sony that’s reduced to £2500 and said, ‘it has stunning sound built in’
It seemed ‘ok’ just not stunning.

The Yamaha really appeals.

Well it's far better than the Pioneer SBX N700 that preceded it but that's no surprise give that the Pioneer retailed at about £250.

To my ear it sounds similar to the Naim Mu-so. For me it has the advantage of having a separate sub - I use it for music as well as TV duties and I like to dial in a bit more base. I've been playing around with it somewhere north of +10 (out of 20).

When I first tried it I thought it was a bit bright/harsh at the top end and a bit lacking in the middle but that's gone now - either because I've mucked about with the settings or because it's burnt itself in.

Over the weekend I watched a few shows that I was familiar with like Top Gear and The Voice and could hear masses more detail than before.

Yesterday I also tried out some music - it coped pretty well with Steely Dan and a load of jazz from a Spotify Premium. It also did well pumping some tunes by The Saints.

It's a funny price point as there are loads at the £250-£350 mark then a big jump to £1,500+ ones.

I'm personally very happy with it at £570 with a free WX10 thrown in. When I move I'll also have a Yam tuner (RXV 673) in another part of the open plan and I can chain them all together using Musiccast.

If the WX10 is any good I might place a couple at the far end of the room (you can configure them for stereo imaging). If not I'll just use it as a speaker in the office or one of the bedrooms.

It works for me.

I originally went to Richer Sounds and did a quick config of upgrades/new kit which came to £3k. I then started chipping away at it so rather then buying a new mid-range receiver for £600 I bought used one with a much higher spec for £300.

The Mu-so seemed a bit steep at £950 and I was worried it might be too room-specific. I heard one demo'd in Norwich and I was amazed. Heard on in the City and it sounded very flat. I've no idea why but it put me off a bit. and it doesn't seem to be very adjustable. So I just asked what it's major competitor was and that was that.

I know the TV I want (top-end non-OLED) so I'll keep £800 back for that. So I'm currently 10% above my aspirational budget of £1.5k. Realistically, though, I'll need speaker mounts, a TV mount, a sound bar mount and cables which all adds up (£200?). And I may buckle and get the final two MA Radius's to complete the cinema set up and I'm 50% over at £2.2k.....

It's s slippery slope all this malarky.

But if you have a use for the spare wireless speaker they're throwing in the "real" cost of the 2700 is £450 which is a steal. Half the price of the Mu-so.

Probably a silly question (but that's never stopped me before)... can you stream to the soundbar without having the TV on.

I presume so, but I've been wrong more times than I care to remember.

Yes. It's got Bluetooth, 3 X HDMI In's and an Optical In.

It's also got other stuff that I'll probably never use - Apple air play, Spotify, Deezer etc

I never understand why they put stuff like that in TV's and amps when you can use Chromecast and the apps on your phone.

Thanks for the info, it is certainly looking the favorite for me and I could happily make use of the extra speaker.

Yes I'm keen on getting hands on the speaker. I'm assuming it'll sound similar to my Bose Mini Soundlink and way better that the rubbish-sounding Amazon Echo and Google Home things my wife insisted on getting. They are awful.

Just going through the registration/claims process at the moment

I noticed the offer expired 31st March so went to order one last night only to read the T&C and notice you had to claim by the 31st. Hopefully the offer will just change, and hopefully I haven't lost out!

Ideally I wanted the larger wireless speaker rather than the smaller they were offering, but was willing to compromise for the offer.

Not sure Yamaha will honour that - I guess you'll find out when you try.

This is the link. It it's still working it will prompt you for a scan of your receipt at the end of the process.

Sorry, poor wording. I spotted that it had to be claimed by the 31st and therefore didn't buy one. Hopefully the offer will just change to something else and I'll pick one up

Ah OK.

I'm not expecting the WX-010 to be amazing but the wife wants something to listen to upstairs and I'm guessing that at £120 it should be up for that sort of use.
