Who designs these algorithms? Satan himself?

Every day, autocorrect plays with my mind. Type photoshopped, get photocopied. Type aleays, it doesn't say always despite it being an obvious touchscreen typo. I swear that somewhere in tech land there are programmers doing this on purpose just to make other people miserable. Bunch of arse.

Not as bad as the dictation.

Last night I said:

“Need another shirt for Sunday”

I got:

“Need another st on Sunday”

I was told that that was rather good planning.

Ha! I have no idea.

I once sent a client of mine, a lovely young hairdresser girl a text. I don't even remember the context, but it was something to do with" I'll catch up with you later"

Instead I was typing pretty quickly and pressed send..... what I actually said was. " I will enjoy you later" I was mortified.

The worst part was I didn't notice for a week or so before I looked again to find out when she wanted to catch up. She took it the way it was intended... but wow!

Moral of the story, I should be more careful. Or run with it I suppose. She is hot after all.

I dunno, but I wish it was slightly more controllable, ie something between "off" and "massively tucking intrusive" and also android lets you turn it off for certain apps e.g. Entering streetnames in nav apps.

That's brilliant, I've not seen that before.

Predictive text has improved, on one of my old phones Cardiff used to become barehead.

My previous mobile phone used to change "omw" to "On my way!" regardless of the context or use. I appreciate that text speak isn't the best form of communication but neither is "Dave, I'm On my way!, the train was delayed" (or whatever).

The real fun is (was?) in custom programming the corrections.

Say for example for the annoying contracts guy where it would swap his name to 'pompous bd' or other helpful little things.

Automangler mostly just shows up that the programmers couldn't afford a dictionary with enough words.

I couldn't, actually. I'm reasonably tech savvy, having grown up as part of the "modern" generation that has deal with computers and mobile phones on a day to day basis and I'm more than capable of using a search engine to cure my woes, but in this instance? Nuthin'.
