Interior light...relay

My interior light will only come on if operated manually..thought i'd check the relay which the manual say's is in position 6 in the fuse box.I have no relay in position 6 and the relays i have.. do not correspond with the diagram...any idea's

Check the door switches (near the bottom), make sure they're not full of gunk.

Pretty sure all the cars have the interior light timer relay in the top RH corner (viewed with fuses along the bottom - some boxes are mounted upside down). Be warned insertion of a normal relay is extremely likely to do damage, at least blow a fuse - at worst ???. Door switches are also used by the alarm / locking and heated mirrors, which are all independant from the courtesy light relay/timer.

Suggest you get the correct part and see if it works.

Top right hand corner is empty,maybe someone has removed it ? But it looks as though i also have relays in sockets that according to the handbook shoudn't be there

Not uncommon to keep spares in the free sockets, just dont try them in the courtesy light or wiper delay timer sockets.

If the door switches are working ok(listen out for door solenoids) then odds on the delay relay will be the problem.
Mine uses the Ford Scorpio one, which is most recent Ford models. If you go to a Ford dealer and quote them "85GG 13C718 AA" they can turn it into a Finis code and sort you one out.

my pin switches are also a bit dodgy, if you want to replace them the part number is 90210575 and is a vauxhall part, freely available for £5 + VAT

Have you got the interim relay/fuse layout though..? I have on my P Plater. If you have a copy of the Bible, see if your layout matches one of the other relay/fuse layouts (there are 3 or 4 from memory) rather than just the one in your handbook. (or is there more than one in the handbook ? )

Thanks everyone.... turned out that the relay was missing ? Picked one up of ebay, all is well now and working ok !
