Hi,

I've just bought a domain name via 1&1, they are offering 5 email addresses for around £10 per month. I have a gmail account and also have an Office 365 subscription - is it best to use gmail or is there a way of using my 365 sub to create some email addresses that are linked to my domain?

Thanks

I don't think that you need to buy anything extra.

I think that you get mail forwarding built into the base account. Simply forward you mails to your O365 or gmail (or both) accounts.

Thanks for the reply, do you know how I do this, is it through the settings on the domain site? Thanks

I've managed to get it set up on windows Mail program through their 'Basics' option but it won't allow me to set it up through my Outlook which is a bit frustrating.

Your options will also depend on the O365 subscription you have. I am not an expert, but one of our guys is, so happy to put you in touch if needed. Thx.

You could use mail forwarding so he domain registrar / your host will have options for mail forwarding ... BUT when you reply to any incoming email; it will not be sent from your domain; rather, it’ll be from whichever email address you are using to receive the emails.

If you want to be able to send and receive using your domain name in the email address, look at MS offerings or Google’s Gsuite:
https://gsuite.google.co.uk/intl/en_uk/products/gm...

Just set up as one user / cheapest and al you need.

There is apparently a way to use free gmail with send / receive from your domain; it used to be a legit option but now it’s more convoluted - and I’m not sure I’d risk messing around when gsuite is so cheap.

I use free gmail to do that and don't recall it being particularly difficult. I think you have to set up gmail as a client with your hosts mail server.

ETA just had a look and there is a section in settings called 'accounts and imports' which is where you can do whatever you need

Is there a step by step for setting that up, anywhere online? Would like to have a look.

No idea, I have had it set up for years. From a quick look this morning it seems it is pretty similar to adding a new mail server to Outlook

Take a look at Zoho mail - I became aware of it after asking a similar question here. I use their free offering and it seems to work well for me.
