carb wedge plate

When I had my engine tuned a couple of months ago, they fitted a 5 degree wedge plate under the carb to level it up.
Since then it has not stalled at all, even under heavy braking!

Talking to Tuxman earlier in the week and he explained that his engine builder has also recommended leveling his carb up to prevent it stalling.

Has anyone else fitted one of these?
Perhaps it's just coincidence that mine's now ok!

I had already thought that this might help to cure the stalling tendency so glad to hear it has actually worked for someone. I'll give it a try.

hi guys fitted wedge plate wed night and went for a spin ,i had problems on sunday with it stalling when we braked from normal speeds so i was a bit worried ,but it was much better and although its still a bit rich it will not stall at all another lesson learnt . simon

Not an Ultima, but still a SBC installation - I read the Ultima forum some time back to get some tips on stalling under braking. Info back then was to fit jet extensions plus make sure carb was 100% level. Duly done, and it cured my stalling under braking, even running slicks and monster brakes. So yes, even a few degrees out seemed to cause problems.
