Argh! First service!

I'm sure you've all been here before, but the Chimaera's in for its first service under my ownership, and it looks like its going to hit me for > £900 (with a new radiator needed in the near future on top)! 
And breathe...
Pointless post, just wanted to get it off my chest to see if it made me feel any better, now I'm off for a lie down in a dark room...
Any words reminding me of the joy of TVR ownership would be welcomed at this difficult time.

My first service (3 weeks after all clear from pre-purchase inspection) was £866, the standard service cost was only £360, and I was also advised of a few other bits needing attenstion so I know exactly how you feel. Look at it this way though, at least you now know all is likely to be OK and what requires your attention in the near future. Far better than not knowing and it going bang when you least expect it!
Shouldn't worry too much, old boy. Get it all sorted now and look forward to far cheaper servicing in the future.
Mine had it's first service under Nuggetty ownership a couple of weeks ago and came out close to £800 (with the manifold gaskets needing replacement soon
), so I've very much needed to (i) stop eating to save money and (ii) look on the optimistic 'pay now save later' side!

i hope im wrong.but i bet i can guess who did that service
id guess its the same crap indie(in cambridgeshire) that serviced what is now my griff the last three times,including a truly awfull 12mth service prior to sale.this 'included' pure water for coolant(rusy water was flushed from the matrix),didnt change gearbox or diff oil,didnt change spark plugs,didnt change air filter,so i wondered wtf they did do-oh they did change the engine oil,but not with my requested (and they promised)mobil1 15-50.mind you they do offer very reasonable fixed price servicing.if youve a s6 then a 12mth service is only £499 inc tappets inc vat, when the tappets alone should cost you £250-£300 at anywhere decent.they must be bl
dy magicians.moral:-dont always assume your getting what you pay for,no such thing as a free lunch etc,and check what theyve done.always check that what you are told needs doing does need doing-get a second opinion if in any doubt.i now always say i only want the service done at the fixed price and to show me/talk through any future work when i come to collect.there are some great people out there to look after your car,but unfortunately too many who shouldnt be allowed near your p&j

Well mine has run like a dream since I got it nearly two years ago.
I'm about to have my third service bill. Every one has been over £1,000 and this one will probably be no different. Mind you the brake upgrade is probably the main reason for that.
However, I can say that each service has done the job excellently and the goodwill from the dealership is fantastic.

I call it the TVR diet!!! I've lost more weight in 8 months of Chim ownership than I ever did on these 'faddy' diets!
It's also made me much more environmentally consious...by next year I will most likely be wearing hessian clothes!
But hey, the grin will still be there!
Mine was £800 odd to sort out a few bits and pieces picked up by the inspection (usual stuff), £991 for the first service etc and not forgetting the £700 for a front end respray to make it look nice.
Also new tyres all round and some new front alloys I spotted on ebay, magnecor leads etc etc.
Not bad in 7 months. I didn't really need to spend all of that though.
I hope the girlfriend doesn't read this, I told her it was a lot less than this!!

Unfortunately not. I bought from a dodgy local chap who said that he'd never had any problems with it.
Well, I never did have any problems with it.
Actually, I suppose I might have done, but since I never had it serviced in the three years I owned it perhaps I just didn't find out about them?
