Another one of those threads I'm afraid..

I'm looking for a new car. Looking at a Mk6 Golf GTI with the upgraded Dynaudio speakers upgrade but I'm struggling to find a decent example in my price range that hasn't been ragged around.

Getting a bit lost with it all now so wondering if anyone can suggest any alternatives that tick the boxes?

Looking for decent power, (at least 200bhp), a nice place to sit with some decent speakers and nothing too old as I'm after a bit of reliability. £10k very max budget.

Anyone suggest anything?

Cheers,

Don't go looking for the speaker upgrade only Golfs look at the normal ones as speaking to an Audio specialist will result in a better sounding car than (for not a huge outlay) even the Dynaudio upgraded cars.

Personally I'd take the (& did buy this car) Focus in ST-3 form with the 2.5T engine or if you really want to stay VAG I'd take the S3 over the Golf.

Thanks guys.

Hadn't dismissed the idea of getting a car then getting an aftermarket stereo/amp fitted, but I use Dynaudio monitors at work so felt it was a sign to just go with them. Would also mean I don't have to bother going through the bother of fitting it all. That said, it seems to be becoming more and more likely that is the way forward.

Focus ST isn't really for me - I quite like the subtle look of the golf. I also ran 1.8 Zetec for a few months and hated it. I realise an ST will be a much different animal, but it still haunts me when I think about driving that thing!

The 335i is a good shout, though I imagine the MPG/tax/insurance will all be a massive hike up compared to a gti?

The 335i's performance will be a step up too, tax is £60 more & fuels is 6mpg worse.

I'm no expert but I understand the 335i has some known issues with exploding turbos.
