Scirocco R Servicing
Discussion
I bought a 2010 Scirocco R in December last year and it's coming time to get it serviced. Unfortunately the last owner did got the last service done at Halfords (having previously been main-dealer only). I wasn't too bothered about this since she said it was a friend who did it and therefore would have done it properly, but now it's my time to get it serviced, I can't decide where to take it. Do I book it in at a main dealer or take it to a decent independent? I'm leaning towards the latter since I can't really see the benefit of taking it back to a dealer and am considering either Mastertechs in Morden or The German Motor Company in Wandsworth - any recommendations in the local area?
As a side note - anything I should be looking to get checked since it's my first service with the car? Think I'll get the cam follower changed for peace of mind - anything else?

Personally I would use a local independent on a car of that age
I would check that the cambelt, tensioner and waterpump were changed back.in 2015 as recommended. VW UK recommends that the cambelt is replaced every 5 years irrespective of mileage on cars registered after Sept 2009.
I would also recommend having the brake fluid changed if it's been over 2 years since it was last done.

Belt was done by VW at the correct interval so happy about that bit I would check that the cambelt, tensioner and waterpump were changed back.in 2015 as recommended. VW UK recommends that the cambelt is replaced every 5 years irrespective of mileage on cars registered after Sept 2009.

Sold on the independent now - I'll go and check out The German Motor Company on Saturday to say hi and look around and then book it in after that if I'm happy!Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
