Hi all...do they exist? I've heard such good things about Tubi, and been behind many cars 'tubi'd up' that I wondered if they do them for our lowly Elise' ?

If so...any comments on the sound?

Thanks all
Tony

yes they do one. Its about £1300 IIRC.

Personally I'd go for a Yoshimura (sp?) Titanium exhaust for the elise, rather than the tubi.

£1300!!?? Crumbs, I didn't want to spend that much! Are we talking similar sort of money for the Titanium one you mention?

The sound is of course the most important thing. What sort of sound do they give? I'm not really after 'boomy' (i.e. Nova Boy)..more 'raspy' ?!!

Thanks for your comment
Tony

Yep big bucks.

Manu from Scuderia System posted a few years back to get some measurements for the Elise for a system he was doing for a customer.

Give Scuderia Systems a try but personally I think a Tubi is a bit of a waste of money on a 4 cylinder car.

The new Eliseparts 'zorst for the S2 should be good if the S1 model is anything to go by

I can recomend the Larinni. If you look around there are links to sound clips around on postings. Very raspy /tuned sound.

these guys here make one thats near identical in quality to the Tubi - even imported from the far east, with tax + £70 shipping its a 1/3rd of the price -

I had their 'race' system fitted - the quality was awesome..unfortunately it was too loud for me, with no cat pipe etc...but this looks much better...may get one myself...

Thanks guys! Yeah, I think you have the right idea of what I'm after...I don't want big and boomie, I want 'raspy' and loud.

Of course, I will do the induction kit as well. Should I do the induction kit first, see what the noise is like, then do the exhaust later, or just get the whole lot done now?

Actually, I don't even have the car yet - got the garage's demo (identical to my forthcoming one bar colour)...but I'm certain I'll be doing something to the exhaust/induction!

I'll take a look at the sounds clips that are online and take it from there.

Thanks again all for your help, everyone!!

Hi

I've only just registered to Pistonheads and am in a similar position to yourself. I've got a 52 plate S2 111s and want to improve the exhaust note - at the moment I feel it sounds a bit 'wheezy' and almost tinny when in the higher rev range..? Anyway, I've been looking at the Janspeed Supersport unit... some of the Midland Lotus Owners Club members have recommended it to me and it seems to suit my budget - I got a quote of £400 incl. VAT & fitting from PTP in Hinkley.
Have you made a decision yet - I'd be interested to hear if you have - I intend to make my purchase in July...

Cheers - Rich

Hi Richard - firstly, welcome to PistonHeads!

To answer your question, no, I've not made a decision yet. I don't actually have my car yet - I'm picking it up Saturday. I have the dealer demo car at the moment (which is identical to my forthcoming one).

The noise I'm after is raspy, rather than boomy. There is one mentioned in a thread here... which I have e-mailed the company. There is a mp3 sound clip available to download on that thread of the noise. It's very similar to what I'm after!

The thread with the sound clip on is here but if you click this and do a search for larini in past 6 months on lotus elise forum, it brings up some good info (which i've just been reading today).

I'll probably wait a couple of months with the standard exhaust, and take it from there. I may even pop an induction kit on it first, just to change it slightly, and make sure I have the exhaust for September when we do the Eurohoon (drive round Europe's great roads).

oooooooooo...a difficult choice, but fun finding out

I got a call from one of the guys over at Larini systems...he sent me some videos of an S2 111S with just their back box on and it sounds bloody excellent!! Sounds exactly what I'm after...it's not boomy at all, and they sound like they have a lot of passion in their work.

I want to hear a few others so will have a look around some websites but it seems I've found the exhaust!

I have two (well, three) choices. Larini do both the sports exhaust, and the sports cat. With just the exhaust and the std cat, it sounds top notch. The extra money to get the sports cat as well is quite alot so what he suggested was just get the exhaust, and if I want more, then I can come back at a later date and get the cat as well. (but not pay the two individual prices, and only pay the balance of what would have been the combined price. Nice bloke!).
I asked re: induction kits and he said that their exhausts sound like I want with just the std air box...so I may not even both touching the induction...we'll wait and see!

Quite keen to actually hear one in real life though (rather than just from the videos he's kindly sent me) so does anyone know of an S2 Elise with a Larini on it?

Thanks all
Tony

(PS: If you want me to send you a copy of the video the guys at Larini sent me, pop me an e-mail through my profile)
