Don't frequent the part of the forums much. Accidentally deleted my original post instead of editing it.

NIP - driving without due care and attention.

I haven't a clue what I have done wrong, something during morning commute into London it seems.

What do they give these NIP's out for? What will get you "driving without due care and attention"?

I have filled out the NIP but not sent it away yet, I would like to speak to someone with professional legal experience.

I have SP30 (6 pts) from 2015, I would like to avoid getting a ban since I wouldn't be able to get to work.

Thanks,

sherbertdip

You were the one driving, you tell us....

Examples of not paying attention while driving may include:
Fiddling with the radio or infotainment
Setting the sat nav
Reading a map (or anything else)
Eating or drinking at the wheel
Adjusting your seating position
Allowing yourself to be distracted by passengers in the car
Examples of disregard for other road users may include:
Driving aggressively
Tailgating
Overtaking on the left-hand side
Lane-hogging
Not giving way where appropriate
Swerving across lanes
Using the wrong lane at a roundabout

This could just be a 3pt/£100 FP. It may well even be an afternoon of tea and biccies.

But if you don't know what you did, then it may well be viewed as utterly justified...

I was on motorbike in morning rush hour to work.. I don't know what I specifically did wrong on that morning.

Could be justified.. There is no way to find out more information I guess, the NIP is so vague, it is ascertaining who was the driver so I have to send it back.. rather than risk MS90

Presumably the NIP has been issued as a result of being flashed by a camera rather than being stopped by a traffic officer? That being the case I'd have thought it could only be for something like driving down a restricted lane you weren't supposed to be in or running a red light? However, a quick look on Google suggests an MS90 conviction may carry more than 3 points so I think you do need to take legal advice if you're on 6 points already!

Initial legal advice taken, see what happens.

Camera yes, I wasn't stopped or involved in any accidents.

MS90 is what you get for not declaring who was the driver.. I will not be doing this, paperwork already complete.

They also do this when road users send in their dashcam footage. So it could have been anyone who reported you.

... and it could have been a different bike that caused a problem, the reporter then saw the OP later and noted his registration. Yet the OP is 'happy' to be paying for a course and having a day off work rolleyes Maybe he rides like a nutter and this is a reasonable hit rate. If not then I wouldn't be accepting a punishment for something that potentially wasn't my fault.

biggrin I'm not an angel but reasonably careful whilst in the city.

I'm not accepting the course until I've spoken to Met Police traffic department to find out exactly what happened and see the evidence.

They have a phone number but are only open between 9-12..
