Anyone got a Rollbar they don't want?
Discussion
I've got my 280 now (see will I fit?)
She's lovely, I had to replace the front disks & calipers to get her to stop in a straight line but now that's fixed I'm thinking about track days. My wife says get a roll bar first and I always do what she says
!!!
So anybody got one going. I've phoned Peninsular and theirs are £200 plus fitting not £179 inc fitting like it says on the ad on PH. Likewise Tower View want £350 plus fitting. This all seems rather pricy. Any suggestions (sensible preferred) on where to get a better price will be gratefully received.

I think the design of a roll cage is a fine art, hence the cost. In theory you could weld a few tubes together, but there's more to it than that.
The presumption must be that if you're buying one from them, they want it to be right so you don't sue them if it goes wrong. You could, I suppose, save money and 'roll your own' (pun intended...)

I would be careful, I'm not sure roll bars built for later cars will not fit the earlier Tasmins. I think the chassis are different where the roll bar bolts to the outriggers.
I bought the roll bar hoop from the Roll Centre (it's the one they use when making up the roll cage in the Tasmin race cars) then made the two pieces that go back through the rear parcel shelf and bolt on either the top of the shock mount or there is a bracket next to it that you can use.
One word of warning, it took ages to make and install, so it may be easier in the long run to just get someone to make andinstall it.
Some pics at http://home.btconnect.com/s_evans1/ of the one I made.
I can give you more details if your still interested.
Cheers Steve
