Anyone know this car?

Hi guys, apologies for invading your forum!

I am seriously considering changing my Elise for a Griffith, and am looking at my first tomorrow. Its VRN is J739GAH, a pre-cat 4000.

Does anyone have any experience of this car, whether good or bad?

I think the manufactured date always seems to default to 30 December but the 1992 should be correct.

What sort of Elise do you have and what do you consider its value to be?

I moved from an Elise to a Griffith last July, and to be honest I am toying with the idea of moving back to a Lotus.

Could be that the chap selling the Griffith you asked about could be in the same boat - Griffiths are not to everyone's taste, particularly if you value handling more than power!

I'm in the same situation.

I moved from an Esprit to a Griffith six months ago.

The Griff looks superb, goes incredibly quickly and sounds brilliant, but the handling is a bit ropey.

On a greasy road it is frightening.

I've advertised mine, not because there is anything wrong with it, but simply because it is just a bit too hairy chested for a limp wristed nancy boy like me.

The Elise is a '98 S1, but I'm afraid my girlfriend has got first dibs on it! I used to own a Chimaera, but had to get rid of it for the Elise after the fuel consumption broke me...

Although the Elise was utterly lovely and did everything I could ask, I don't think I ever lost the TVR bug. Hopefully I never will!

Pat, why did you change from an Esprit? That's actually the other car I'm considering, but the reputation for unreliabilty and impracticality has slightly put me off (Griffith, the practical choice... )
