PH selling/leaking email addresses?

I've just had an email to my business email address, it uses my old forum name in the salutation field.

How have they got this info from PH? It can't have been obtained from any other source as it's a moniker I have only ever used here and not for a good few years.

It's very unlikely.

However I've just searched the forums and found an old post of yours under your old Bliarout username (I assume it's this one) and your business URL on the post too. It was when you started up so did you email anyone back then? Whether you did or didn't they save them for future business contact use on their database with anything else they find. Then someone else comes along and creates an email spam and includes all without checking the details and you get an email.

I can't remember if I emailed anyone last week, let alone ten years ago

I see the post you mean, it could be someone putting 2+2 together, I was just surprised when I saw the salutation.
