Well after much searching and deliberating, I finally settled on my first (relatively to some people) premium watch.

I've had a lot of £50 to £200 watches, but with my wedding coming up i finally was able to justify the purchase of a Tag.

I've always liked the formula 1 and as soon as I saw this, fell in love. The colour scheme is exactly what I wanted and Vs the RRP on the tag website, I got nearly £400 off. I have only seen the ceramic two tone strap version for sale in the UK. Purchased through Chronext. Took 3 weeks but expected this, I know of three successful purchases now so can definitely recommend.

I am perfectly happy having a quartz, and I'm chuffed with the overall finish on the product.

Obligatory instagram-esque car steering wheel badge brag (you can't tell it's a diesel):

Lovely watch. I sold the only one I owned to buy a Chris Ward. Probably would have kept it if it were a little larger. I often see it on the bloke I sold it to and wish it were still mine

It's a TAG, it's st mate.

Lol, nah, looks a lovely thing. How come you ended up with a quartz rather than an automatic in the end?

Cheers guys. I went for a quartz purely on price and look. Out of the Tag range at sub £1,600 this was my favourite watch looks wise. It is exactly what I wanted. I almost went for the aquaracer calibre 5 but in the flesh I felt the F1 was more me. And...added bonus of the price. I paid a little over 1k. Tag RRP is £1400, managed to find a tidy discount code for chronext! The same watch with ceramic band in the strap is £1600 on the high street.

I'll be wearing it nearly every day so hopefully stands the test of time like the above !

That's a fantastic looking watch!

Never understood the snobbishness toward Tag. My first 'proper' watch was a quartz Tag Heuer Professional 1000 nearly 30 years ago and it's still going strong. I've just bought my son one for his 21st because for around £1,000 I don't think there is anything to touch them for quality, style and brand image (which we might 'all be above', but actually it was great for him that he got a watch that most people recognise as a quality watch compared to, say, an Oris or a Stowa which are good watches, but for him who's not into watches, might as well be a Sekonda).

It's not a Rolex but he loves it and (if mine is anything to go by) it'll last him for ever.

Nice.

F1 quartz was my first too.

Word of warning, it gets more expensive from here!

Thanks both. I definitely want to update the wardrobe so to speak and retire some of my other watches!

If you don't already , subscribe to the r/watches sub on Reddit. Some incredible stuff on there from brands you would otherwise not know would exist. A steinhart or Seiko is probably next.

That does look nice.
My first 'Premium' watch was a Tag Formula One too - I paid £72 for it new at a jewelers in Wakefield back in 1989.
Sadly it got lost in the last house move 4 years ago.

First for me was a TAG Heuer F1 Indy 500 back in 2014.. Worn just about every day since then and love it to bits. Cracking looking watch OP!

I think every collection should have a Tag F1 in it, I love mine (really like the look of yours too).
Also for me it was my first foray into the world of ‘expensive’ watches.
Being a novice at the time I paid full retail for mine!
You can read how I came about buying it here:

I have a black faced 2004 F1 Chrono. I really like it, aside from the rubber bumpers that have degraded over the years.

It’s one of my go to daily wears.

Lovely looking watch you’ve got there!
