Mushroom vent in rocker cover
Discussion
I found a replacement sponge for the filter in the basket, do I also need to clean out the small hole into the rocker cover?
I would have thought that the mushroom filter foam is keeping out crap from incoming air from the engine bay into the rocker cover presumably the hole should not need cleaning, where as the flame trap wire wool is black.
But that hole looks tiny so I can't see it needing much to block it.

You're probably right, it's been a while since I had a rover rocker cover but I thort I'd pulled one out with a pair of pliers. In the dim and distant past.
That said, i just found this image, see item 55. Also looks like an alternative arrangement does have a fixed tube.

Defo was a fixed mushy on mine.
Mine seems fixed, I’ve tried easing it up but didn’t want to break it Looking at Boosted’s drawing
It comes in three parts so shouldn’t I just be removing part 54 from part 55 so revealing part 53
And not pulling the whole thing from the rocker cover.
Should part 54 be turned or just eased up and off part 55?

54 is plastic and clips onto 55 so when released will come away with 53 (foam) inside it.Looking at Boosted’s drawing

I think peeps are getting a little precious about this. The hole in 55 is absolutely tiny. I'm guessing around 0.5mm so if you use a twist drill to clean the hole the amount of carbon/oil that will fall down inside is minuscule. I bet 50 times that amount of dirt will fall in for each rocker cover you remove.
