Volvo V70 (2000) Manual, or V70XC (1998) Auto?
Discussion
Both have around 120k on the clock and seem well looked after. Both have recently had full services and MOT's done, so not too much worries there. Neither are the turbo models as far as I can tell. The V70 i guess is the second gen of the V70's as its body shape is not the 'boxy' type.
I want something to convert into a low-key camper, but also not being boring as f to drive. I have a budget of around £1000 and both of these cars are being sold at £1100, but likely can get them down to £900 ish I'd say.

These things are pretty bomb-proof. They are heavy, so listen for rattles and knocks from suspension and check for oil leaks. The crankshaft oil seal went on my T5 manual and wept oil. That was the only expensive repair I've ever had on a Volvo.
I'd go for the XC, just because it's a bit different...and if you are camping, 4x4 might be useful.

also came across a v70 t5 for £975, advertised as follows:
"Much loved old family estate that has taken us across Europe several times but sadly a change in circumstance forces a reluctant sale. Mechanically in good order with recent oil, filter and plug renewal and in the past 10k has had lower arms, drop links, strut tops, shock absorbers and steering arms. Has also had the PCV system replaced along with all engine vacuums (a T5 weak point) and thus drives very well with no fluid loss, no knocks, clunks or smoking and the autobox functions as it should. Cosmetically challenged as expected on a 20 year old car that has been used as it should be but limited to minor marks on bumpers, small bubble on OSF arch and some minor dents but still a presentable car. Internally in good order, slight wear to drivers bolster and air con no longer works correctly. Fantastic, reliable old car with a surprising turn of speed that deserves to carry on doing what it does best. Four matching Vredestein winter tyres, MOT to August, HPi clear and ready to go to a new homes. No silly offers, no uninsured test drives, no part exchanges, swaps or time wasters please as time is precious and given the choice, I'd rather not sell but such is life. Next MOT due 28/08/2018, Silver, 5+ owners, £975"
Has no service history and at 200k miles I'm not so sure. But the guy seems genuine and the car seems well maintained. It's a toss up between this and a 2000 manual mentioned above.
