28's wont be a problem, but I doubt 32's would work.
You may also have clearance problems with your frame depending on what you're riding?
Thanks Chris. I am running 25mm currently. The CX bike has 32mm so i guess you are correct regarding the width. Comes down then to the 28mm and whether they would be too wide or not. I think i would get away with it as regards to clearance. The bike in the photo is a supersix evo and I think the clearance is sufficient. Do they 28mm make much of a difference over the 25mm in terms of grip/cornering/confidence You may also have clearance problems with your frame depending on what you're riding?
I would say the main difference when going wider is that you can run at lower PSI, which in turn means increased comfort and grip/contact patch in colder/slipperier conditions.
I can't see the photo (blame work filters) but I have a Supersix and not 100% convinced the 28's would fit, especially around the rear chainstay/BB area?

Firstly - don't get Gatorskins, horrible tyres.
Conti GP 4 Season is a much better option, pretty much the same puncture resistance but a much nicer compound than Gatorslips.
2014 Cosmics will be the old narrow rim so going wide beyond a point is not that worth it, you'll just end up with bulbous tyres, prob 25mm max.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 25mm tbh. 2014 Mavics have very narrow rims so 25mm will likely look a bit bulbous. I'd also reconsider the gatorskins, they don't have a great reputation for grip - what sort of riding are you doing?
Hi thanks for this. Mostly alpine. Live in central Switzerland. The commute to work for example involves going over a small alpine pass so only need the tyres for the summer. I was looking for the wider tyres to inspire more confidence going downhill but i guess if they wont work I'll stick to the 4 seasons currently on her. ChrisMCoupe said:

yeah theres a risk of making a balls of it. Maybe I'll stick with what I have for now. thanks for the input though. How do you like your supersix? The recommended maximum tyre size is based on the inner width (ETRTO). I would expect that particular rim to be 15mm, in which case you're OK up to a 32 mm tyre. Whether you have the frame clearance is another matter.
