On a two lane road which merges into one in about 100-metres.

Lights go on to green, i speed up and so does the focus in the other lane, we are literally right next to eachother and as the lane closes (me in fromt) we’re going about 70mph, but i notice she has a dashcam, if they submit it to the police, what will happen?

Nothing. Most people just have a dashcam in the event of a crash, not to report every overtake/ poor bit of judgement.

I think you need to describe the event in more detail so we can give you a better informed opinion about the likely outcome.
How exactly were you being a tit?

So at the lights, i speed up fast, so does the other car, we are literally at the same place as we’re going through the next set of lights and as the merge closes i pull in and he backs off just the tiniest bit, proceeds to flash multiple times. The speed limit was 30mph, and we were 70 if not a bit faster

I cant give any more detail mate

I've got a dashcam, and I film tons of bellend-y behaviour on the road. I've no interest in submitting it to the authorities. It's there in case someone tries a crash for cash, does a hit and run or is simply a liar in the event that I have a crash.

In your case OP if I was a copper and someone came to me with footage of what you describe I'd be asking them what they were playing at causing the speed in the first place, and if you were getting in trouble for it then so would they for the same offence, and politely tell them to ps off.

I think they'd have to be pretty stupid to submit evidence of themselves also doing 70 in a 30.

I gather yous were matching speed to see who gave in first at the end of the merge...

70mph in a 30 is naughty, but the other car is just as guilty. Even if the dash cam recorded speed (I'm assuming they aren't calibrated well enough to use in court) the other driver would be in trouble so it would be fking stupid to report it.

On my bike I occasionally worry about dash cammers, but then figure most people have them as an insurance in crashes and have more of a life than to upload it or report it. So unless you were doing something dangerous and they were not involved I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest. Could also say you were across of them as they were being aggressive etc and felt you needed to get away haha

You would like to think that the less than angelic behaviour and speed from the other driver would diminish any risk to you so I wouldn't sweat.

I am like another poster in that I wouldn't even think of submitting f*ckwittery on my dash cam to the authorities. However, I am now aware of several instances whereby this has happened, including a guy on a Lotus forum the last week who has been sent a NIP following a cyclist recording drivers in a stationary traffic queue at roadworks looking at their phones (in his case, trying to work out a re-route on his google maps to go back and avoid said roadworks!). Seems to be more and more common.
