I'm always looking for new lucrative ways to lose money and noticed an ad on the train for WiseAlpha.

It allows you to invest in corporate bonds (although you're not actually getting any bond but a 'note' as they call it) all for the measly sum of 1%/year and if you wish to sell prior to maturity they charge 0.25%.

Despite the above, I was looking at the site and thinking there were still some good companies available which i'd feel fairly comfortable putting money into. However, a concern of mine would be the amount of liquidity and whether i'd be able to sell a bond or end up having to hold it until maturity.

Does anyone have any experience with WiseAlpha?

Finally, the senior secured and high yield corporate bond and loan market is now accessible to the individual investor.
Haven't we all been able to do this via a High Yield Bond Fund?
Fees for a high yield bond fund can be 0.38% with no sell fees.

Of course you can't pick and choose the bonds like this offering, but if you are investing in bonds surely you are looking for lower risk anyway and are better off with a diversified holding?

I don't have any experience with them but wouldn't touch them myself. Not only are they very expensive, even Hargreaves Lansdown offer this at less than half their price and have great customer service, but they are relatively new and their financials just don't stack up for me.

In 2016 they had a turnover of £0 and made a loss of £365,765.

In 2017 they had a turnover of £9,661 and made a loss of £485,407.

Their last accounts show a profit and loss account of minus £1,413,045 and shareholder deficit of £70,022.

So as I said, I would not touch them!
