On my second scirocco now my first being an 09 red 2.0 TDI. Picked up a 64 plate metallic blue GT last month. One thing that is driving me crazy is the noise of the stones and grit rattling about the wheel arches and underneath the car. It’s so loud that you can even hear it about the radio. I cringe everytime and think of the damage it must be doing. I never had this with my previous Roc. It seemed to be more "sound proof". Whereas this one, you can hear every single piece of debris even on clearer ground. Anyone else experience this? Probably more paranoid with it being the early stages of picking the car up but WOW, it sounds awful! Not sure if it could be the tyres or if this is a common theme with slightly newer Rocs? Help?? Checked for additional wheel arch liner but can’t find anything for Rocs.

Odd. Are the arch liners there? Is the car running unusually soft tyres?

Yeah, the plastic liners are there. Not that I can see, the tyres seem to be perfect and have the right tread, , will this make a difference?. Never noticed it on my last Roc and to be honest I shamefully always added budget tyres to it, they ran on 17s. My GT has performance tyres and run on 18s. I wasn’t sure if it was the tread pattern but it the drive makes me cringe hearing everything clunk and stone being thrown about in the wheel arches. Just at a complete loss. Hate driving it at the moment

Stones hitting the plastic liners won’t do any damage even if it sounds bad.

To protect the paint buy a set of Mud flaps - not lookers but will protect the sills/rear bumper a bit

Sticky tyres - like Michelin cups - throw up far more stuff but are unlikely to be on your car unless tracked.
