My strangest injury would be sitting on the middle of a slide , falling off it and injuring my back.

My uncle owned a pub in rural Devon, Colyton if anyone knows it. My Auntie was a nurse. A regular came in around half ten one evening and asked to see my auntie, he had snapped his banjo string.

My strangest injury, five aside. Goalie didn't turn up. I offered. Shot came in, I saved it but it snapped my wrist.

Large scar on my wrist where, whilst a tad inebriated, I had bought flowers for my girlfriend and was trimming the stems to fit them in a vase to present to her. Went through the stems with a large pair of vicious secateurs, and also through half my wrist too.
Something about presenting blood-soaked roses that didn't seem to appeal to my girlfriend.

When I was a kid my dad was playing in a charity football match.
He was attempting to make a save while someone else was trying to kick the ball. He ended up with a dislocated shoulder.

Unfortunately for him the team had decided to do it in drag, so he was taken to A&E by ambulance wearing a miniskirt, blouse, and full make up smile

When I was about 10 I was walking home from the park and noticed that somebody had put a table in a tree. I pulled on the leg and it landed on my ankle.
Still got the scar.

Mounting an 8" radio controlled aeroplane prop to a tamiya 540 motor to see how powerful I could make a hand held fan. Losing control of the motor in my left-hand and watching the prop slice into my right hand.

25 years later I still have 2 scars on my right-hand where each side of the prop made contact.

My latest one occurred a few weeks back...

Sanding some floorboards. Not wearing gloves. One edge that had split went in to the end of my right index finger. I pulled it out but it had snapped. It bled. A lot.

I went to get my hair done and then out for afternoon tea.

Next morning I’m in A&E at 0630 with a swollen finger, temperature and searing pain (I have a high pain threshold, three children, probably a third covered in tattoos and many piercings). This bd hurt.
Had an XRay (told the Dr wood wouldn’t show up - it didn’t). Given painkillers and week of ABX.

Last week I had an ultrasound on my finger. It was hilarious. The Radiographer was pretty shocked. The wood is 5mm deep and vertical and just over 1cm long, 9mm from the end of the tip of my finger. It’s vertical to the skin surface so will have to have a minor op. Not only that but there’s two pieces. She said she’d not seen anything like it before. I did ask if I could have a little scan print out (like the antenatal ones) but it couldn’t be done on the machine hehe

I’ve NEVER had an op or anaesthetic before ever! Seeing the surgeon next week. It’ll have been in my finger a month then. Paramedic at work was fascinated by it as several layers of skin have since peeled away and my finger is still purple/swollen and out of action. Which is awkward using a mouse/typing etc. Can’t write either as holding the pen the pressure is too painful.

I’ve since been leant my Fathers’s electric sander (thanks for mentioning it before rolleyes) and finished off my project. All stained and varnished in dark oak. The floor looks good smile and I’ve even bought a 3D oak frame to mount the pieces of wood in so they can go on display on the wall once removed (if hospital will allow me to keep them).

So just a splinter really.

I spent a week in hospital after my hand turned septic and I have a four inch scar from the knuckles to past the wrist.

I was bitten by a cat. With one tooth.

Probably the time when I fainted at a career day.

I remember being at the Magnox Nuclear Electric stall having just been to Walls Ice Cream and got a 99er. As I stood there looking a at table with assorted equipment on it I starting to feel a bit dizzy and proceeded to faint.

I woke up lying on the floor with a mix of ice cream and blood all over my head having no idea what just happened.

Unfortunately for me as I fainted I took a step toward the table an did a full blown face plant onto a nuclear fission rod cutting open my forehead. To make matters worse a teacher tried to catch me and failed so I then hit the deck and mashed my ice cream into my face.

Picked up a large sheet of thin steel. It slipped down slicing a deep flap on my fingertip.

I bound it up and it healed and now I've got a finger with a bubble/lump on the top.

Very popular with the ladies wink

Re the aforementioned piercings...summer before last one of my cartilage piercings was torn from my ear by an overhanging bramble bush whilst mountain biking on the Ouse Valley Way.

I just felt cold against my ear/side of face somput my hand up which was then covered in blood. So a hundred yards or so behind me was some bizarre tribute to Van Gogh hanging from a hedgerow.

During my wandering years I once found myself in a little border town in Colombia where you could buy all sorts of leather goods. I came back with a few coats and bags, but also a baseball glove and, for some reason, a bullwhip.

A while later, I found the whip, forgotten about at the bottom of a bag of other stuff, and inspired by thoughts of Indiana Jones, decided to line the family up in the garden while I demonstrated my whip cracking skills.

On the first attempt the end of the whip disappeared behind my head, only to crack forwards again and come into violent (possibly supersonic) contact with my ear. I was informed later that my attempts to retain my composure while I made my way indoors to curl up into a sobbing ball in the front room fooled absolutely nobody.

When I was a kid, we used to play a game of throwing darts at a tree in our close. I managed to hit the tree and in my excitement I ran to collect the dart, forgetting that my mate was about to throw his dart, which landed in the back of my leg, up to the hilt.

Broke my little toe.

Was wrestling with my 7 year old son. He was lying on the bed and I ran into the room to perform a flying ninja attack.

I caught my little toe on the edge of the skirting board bending it sideways, as I lay on the floor in pain he jumped onto me from the bed claiming victory !

I fell out of a shower whilst pissed. I went over the edge of the bath tub and on to the floor, bashing my face off of the toilet bowl and breaking my nose in the process......

Probably cutting open two fingers on my hand. Achieved by a finger bbq interface (it was cold) whilst playing snooker.
Left me with tick shaped scars on the knuckles of each digit.

Managed to snap my collarbone playing softball during PE at school!

I was guarding a base, holding my arms up to catch the ball coming down to me, looking straight up and the batsman slid for my base. He knocked my feet out from under me so I landed flat on my side, pushing my arm 180° to my torso. The teacher thought I might have dislocated my arm so tried jolting it back in to place, hadn't sworn at a teacher before that day hehe

Went to the gym whilst on a tour of Afghanistan, I was doing triceps dips with a belt around my waist and a 20kg plate suspended from it.
The belt slipped and the plate bounced off my big toe, breaking it and removing the nail completely. It was a little embarrassing asking combat medics more used to dealing with traumatic amputations etc, to clean and dress my big toe laughlaughlaugh

Playing football when I was 13, through on goal, 1v1 with the keeper, knock it past him, he comes in late and slide tackles me, I naturally put my arms out to cushion the fall, right arm snaps literally in half. I stand up in shock and remember screaming 'I've broke my arm', ~100+ players/spectators/general public all scream and gasp etc as it was literally banana shaped, only still attached by my skin, it was disgusting.

To top it off my Dad starts kicking off at the keeper and keepers Dad, pretty funny thinking about it now - I had to hold my arm out in the car on the way to the hospital without a seat belt whilst my Dad is ragging it through Liverpool city centre over what seemed like miles of speed bumps...

To top it off, identical break 6 months or so after it had healed whilst Thai boxing, landed on my back directly on my elbow. Kids, parents and staff all screaming at the utter state of my arm. The embarrassment is almost as bad as the injury sometimes hehe Not to mention spending my first year of high school almost permanently in a cast wasn't ideal!
