Audi X5 S line
Discussion
Dear reader
I have a budget of approx £10-12.5k and am looking at buying 2008-2010 plate with ideally under 90,000 miles on the clock.
Before I take the plunge and put my cash into a big heavy depreciating lump, please can anyone who has owned one of these cars give me any helpful advice?
For two kids and two adults I am not sure if this car will be big enough (as I have read quite a few reviews of it being a rival of the X3, which I know is too small). The Q7 'tank' just seems too big - hence thinking of X5/XC90 etc.
Thank you so much.

I assume you mean Q5? rather than Q3
Both are definitely big enough for a normal 2+2 family. I looked at the 5 and 7 and bought the 7 as I wanted the larger engine and a few other bits but the 5 is a nice place to be for a family wagon.
Personally I would try to find a manual, petrol variant but appreciate they are very thin on the ground

I'm on my third X3 and it's definitely big enough for two adults and two children. My kids were quite young when we got our first and are now teenagers, so we've done the journey from baby seats, through boosters and on. Trips to the Alps at all ages have been done in comfort, except when we over procured on the wine and beer in France.....
When we looked at the SQ5 the boot opening appeared narrow and slightly smaller load space, so if anything IMHO the X3 would be better for a family. I haven't driven a 2.0 Q5 so can't comment on that engine.

I have a 2011 Q5 2.0tdi S-Line. I think it's bigger than an X3 and certainly smaller than an X5. There's enough room without being huge and it still looks fairly modern. It's not quick but it's not supposed to be. The dash/tech is very dated but I can live with that, I like the auto tailgate and adjustable rear bench.
From memory the petrol suffers from oil consumption issues and the auto gearbox can be problematic.
