Had knee surgery on Wednesday morning, spent a night in hospital afterwards. While I was lying in the hospital bed afterwards, I wasn’t in too much discomfort, not feeling the need to push the morphine button etc, but now they’ve tried to get me more mobile, I’m massively struggling with the pain. I’m home now, and I’m finding the transition from sitting to standing almost unbearable. I’ve got high strength Co-codamol, ibruprofen and oramorph, but even with this, every time it need to get up to go to the toilet, I find myself breaking down in tears with the pain. I feel like such a wimp.

Thankfully I’ve found the cause of the pain - I’ve been put in a leg brace, and the edge of the knee hole was pressing on the surgical staples along the operation wound. Whenever I stood up my body weight was being pushed through the wound. The brace has been repositioned now resulting in a massive reduction in pain

Glad you've found the root cause smile
When I was rehabbing from knee replacement last Sept I found nighttime by far the wort - low level persistent pain was far more noticeable than during the day when general distractions take your mind off it. So I saved all my Oramorph for bedtime. Good luck, anyway!

Good luck op. Knee pain is not nice and is something I live with on most days. I cannot imagine what you're feeling pain wise though. Hopefully soon be on the mend
