Disgraceful lack of ability from South Western Railway

Just had this come through, South Western Railway is shutting every route today from 8pm.
This is a huge network and serves all the areas from Waterloo out to Surrey and further out to the west.
There is little or no snow between eg Woking and London, so how can they justify closing down hundreds of routes (fair enough on routes with some snow).
shocking cost saving/skiving mentality should receive massive fines for this..

To give SWT some credit, I'd been expecting chaos this week given the weather ahd their usual inclination to melt down without any real provocation.
Its actually been very good all week, a few mins delayed here and there but I'd argue that the service via Staines and Richmond has been far better than it usually is!

Wasn't it a SWT train stranded for 15 hours last night with no power and 200 passengers with more bad weather expected?

Wasn't there something reported that if Network Rail - who maintain and operates the lines deem them unfit for use they have to pay the train operators compensation, so there's no fight in them to contest anything.

s there never was. going back to the old days of drunken irish navies would be an improvement on many of the 'characters' that NR employ in there 'maintenance' teams...but that's a story for the annoying (disgusting, scummy, antisocial, council, offensive) things people do on train thread from what ive seen over 10 years of commuting.

re the crews. well the majority ive travelled with on train are feet on seats, swearing loudly, leaving empty tinnies on seats and chucking them at each other sorts. now im no angel after a boozy night but theres a time and place for such behavior and peak times and during the day time with kids about isnt it.
