VW Golf Mk5 GTI
Discussion
Since it is the GTIs 11th birthday today i thought I'd post an update but my original post from a year or two back seems to have disappeared.
I have had it for 2.5 years and it has just quietly got on with its job, proving to be a great day to day car happy to oblige when you have chance for a bit of fun. The cambelt is getting ready for doing but there is zero consensus on when it should be done from dealers, owners and officially from different VAG brands. Other than that it has just been servicing and consumables.
It was in Modern Classics Magazine last year which was quite a fun day out showing them round the Peaks.
Tend to agree with a lot of the comments on the recent spotted thread - great hot hatch as an all-rounder but more fun to be had else where. Interestingly i prefer it to my now departed mx5 mk3 which i ran at the same time for a while - controversial to many Rwd lovers on PH.
Thanks for reading.
