Mondeo ST220 catalytic converters
Discussion
Good evening,
I'm having a very tough time sourcing replacement cats for the Mondy. Ford no longer make them, no factors I've called have them and the main set on ebay says they're not suitable for an ST220 even though they state they are in the title. I've emailed a few custom performance places on the offchance but anyone got any bright ideas please or my otherwise very good low mileage example is being scrapped (emission faliure on MOT)
EDIT: I have researched extensively and can't find anyone who already makes or is willing to custom make some cats. What I'm asking you lovely people is whether you personally know or have heard of anyone with an ST220 with custom cats or a mod firm who has created such. Thankyou

Pardon my ignorance but I am not aware of the configuration of your exhaust.
If it is a "manicat" an in the exhaust manifold & cat are combined then the only place you will get that configuration is from Ford.
If it is separate from the cat you can go to somewhere like "powerflow" or some similar local custom stainless exhaust manufacturer & they will make one up to suit.
If it is a simple bolt/sleeve in/out arrangement is shouldn't be too expensive.
Another option is to hire/borrow a welder & get a similar sized cat on the bay and make it yourself.

Thanks for replying! There are two cats (Bank 1 and Bank 2) and Ford have stopped making them. I've tried quite a few motor factors and no joy. I have a few more on the list but ideally would like a full custom stainless steel jobby. None exist that I know of or can find by research.
They are "manicats" on the ST220.
You could have some custom tubular manifolds made then add a "conventional" in-line cat to the system.
Or look in to whether the exhaust system from the 3.0 Jaguar X-Type shares the same configuration.
ETA: A quick Google suggests the Jag X-Type 2.5 & 3.0 use the same cats which look very similar to the ST220 ones.

^^^^ Wot 'e said.
Just because Ford made it like that doesn't mean it has to be like that.
Yes, it is true that the closer the cat is to the engine the quicker it gets up to temperature and therefore the quicker it is working efficiently, but there are still ways that the custom guys can get close to it.
Go & see a few & tell them what you want, for the right money they can & will do it.

You could always buy a pair of these
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAINLESS-STEEL-DECAT-D...
& get cats welded in to them.

Jesus, how hard is it?
Have you tried searching?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-UNIVERSAL-STAINLESS...
Don't know if they are the right diameter tube obviously.

The X-Type and Mondeo don't share many components but engines are one that they do. The 3.0 V6 in the Jag and the ST220 is the same except the Jag has variable valve timing so more power.
The petrol V6s in S-Type and X-Type are Ford derived.
