It's the end of what's been a long and tough week, and I don't know about you, but the Siberian weather has cast a long shadow over everything. I'm home, looking out at the frozen wilderness, but there is a glass in my hand and a Cayman with 34 miles on the clock on my drive.

I've wanted a Porsche since I was about 4, and it does feel like the realisation of a significant personal ambition.

As a newcomer to this forum, I can't quite get my head around the petty sniping and bickering that seems to infect a lot of the threads. To everyone who has picked up a new Porsche this week, whether it's your 10th or like me, your first, I raise my glass. Happy days.

Tbh I find PH to be one of the more friendly Internet forums. You’ll just end up growing a thick skin, which is no bad thing imo.

Amazing news pal. Enjoy the drink and as for the car, just spend the next day or 3 staring at it. Thumbs up from me

Me too!! Beers that is!

I got a 2003 911 last October which was a 40 year dream. Yes it needs a bit of fettling but driving it or walking past it in the garage puts a big smile on my face! The only thing I’d swap it for is a much newer Cayman in smurf blue - not any time soon though.

Every forum has its fall outs - just filter out like you do other stuff in life.

Welcome, drive it like you stole it and enjoy!

Actually, best thing you can do while you’re stuck and can’t drive is plan a road trip, and this forum is a great resource.

Check out the roads section, I’m off to the Scottish Highlands at the end of the month and can’t wait. You’re in Newcastle aren’t you? Wouldn’t be too far and the roads look stunning.

Meet you in Blairgowrie wink

More good news! Well done on your achievement - there's a chap elsewhere on PH who's landed a dream role leading a UK rugby team while being offered a new job & car.

(actually I think we could do with a 'good news!' thread where we can read about developments, achievements, progression etc - as well as the unfortunate separation/divorce threads which you'll come across as you wander round the place).

Cheers!! Haters hate whatever and may also be stuck in the past but you now have the better car. Enjoy when the weather improves and ignore the nonsense posted on some of these earlier threads..

That might actually be doable. I have some leave to take before the end of the month, and I haven't had a blast up the A68 for ages. I stayed in a log cabin in Blairgowrie with my girlfriend many years ago, and our two Jack Russells destroyed the place while we were out fishing.

Have you got your car yet?

Thank you all very much for the really kind comments.

718 owner here too. Enjoy, they are great cars. Ignore the "too bad it is missing 2 cylinders crap" Probably never even spent time driving one.
I have had 3 versions of the Cayman and this is certainly the best package.

No, not yet frown

Tomorrow is the day, even if the M62 and A628 are still closed I’m still picking it up.

We’re doing the Cairngorms then off to the west coast, here’s some inspiration, great video if you haven’t seen it before;

Incidentally OP, would you mind dropping a line or two in this thread please?

(I'm trying to amalgamate some good news into a single 'Good News' - it's not obligatory!)

Oh and OP, if you’ve (or any other 718 owners) not done it already you can add speed camera alerts to your PCM as described here:

https://www.porscheclubgb.com/getmedia/d14ad76f-d0...

Just use the .asc files instead of the GPX ones.
