This is driving me demented and I would appreciate any input.. The Discovery 2 diesel manual has the following electrical problems when I insert the ignition key and turn to position II, all lights on instrument panel come on as expected and then some go out as normal but:
Moving the key to the crank position does nothing (however the +ve supply to the start relay on the bonnet fuse panel IS there - this relay gets its earth via the BCU, I provided an earth to this relay and it did crank the starter)
The indicators don't operate
The hazard warning doesn't operate
The electric windows don't operate
The following items all operate as normal.
Heater fan
Horns
Electric Mirrors
Side Lights
Headlights/Headlight Flash and dip
Petrol Cap release
All wipers and washers
I have checked and reseated all fuses and Relays (both Passenger compartment and Under Bonnet boxes).
I have reseated all plugs and sockets on both boxes as above and the BCU.
I have checked all voltage levels where possible. I have changed the key handset battery and performed the EKA as the Alarm light was flashing at one point but it goes out with a remote lock and unlock.
Any good ideas out there - I do not have Testbook or equivalent..
Thanks

May be worth a post on Disco 2 boys club, probably someone local to you with a nanocom.

Agreed about D2boys site, Loads of information on there.

First port of call should to be the battery, needs to have a good 12.5V output after standing overnight otherwise all sorts of gremlins appear. Also check battery cables for tightness if you are running LR originals as the terminals do not always grip tightly.

Did it start acting up suddenly for no reason or after an 'event' - e.g. wading or playing in mud? Has either the body ECU or engine bay ECU been exposed to water/oil ingress? Check the connectors of the engine one in particular for signs of oil wicking along the loom and into the ECU box itself.

You really need to get some fault-codes pulled using Hawkeye, Nanocom or similar. Otherwise you can easily spend days going round in circles trying to work out where your fault lies.

As above - Disco 2s need a decent battery voltage or you'll get all sorts of strange behaviour.

Sounds like the BCU has gone belly up. Worth making sure the BCU have voltage and ground, and if you have diagnostic kit, worth checking you can get comms to it. Otherwise there's where my money would go.
BCU will need security coding, and configuration.

Ok problem solved
It was basically corrosion on the female contacts of the starter relay in the fuse board and the same thing in the fuse board undr the steering wheel which again was corroded.
I used an auto electrician near me who knows what he is talking about #75 sterling job done.
