31000 miles 335d M sport new front pads squealing like its on metal to metal.
Taken back to BMW told its normal for M sport brakes to squeal
Been driving BMW`s for 30 years, this one goes back in November, absolutely love it but not putting up with that noise so over to Mercs
Does anyone have a fix?

Bed new pads in with the 'bedding in' process?

This has been covered in other threads. Give it a few hard stops to get any pad pickup off the discs. Let them properly cool down between stops.

It’s not normal. It can be fixed the same way as any squeaking brakes. Remove and clean pads and caliper and carrier. Chamfer and deglaze pads. Grease pads (Ceratec/Plastilube-not Copperslip).

BMW did that themselves in Battersea
Came out and still doing the same thing
Have braked from 120 to zero also to try and stop it
BMW say it is just something associated with the M sport brakes so live with it

Enjoy the wheel chop and crabbing on full lock then...

I've only ever had squeal on an M5 never on a cooking 3 series, I guess it depends on driving style and whether you have bedded them in, they don't generally squeal.

Mine squeak really badly , just on the last 5mph of braking to 0 . Booked in new week to check . Pads are all fine (33k miles ) . I do think I don’t use them hard enough . If I get some heat into them by left foot braking and dragging them against throttle it seems to stop . I also get a bit of sqeaking when I leave the office in the evening suggesting they are not as free as they should be . Annoying .

Get the crabbing on full lock.... what is that?
The squeal is only sub 5 mph and like me I drive a lot in London then out on the M40 so bloody annoying in town.
What concerns me is BMW say it is normal and acceptable for M sport brakes to squeal.
In their words it’s a characteristic!!!
Mercedes here I come in November...

I would never accept squealing brakes, M sport or not. I have never had squealing brakes on an all-disc set up for 30+ years.

Hard pads will often sqeal if your driving style is to tag the brakes early with a very light application and hold them on for a long time. Ie if you tend to brake early but lightly and extend the braking zone. Try braking a little later, with a firmer application, then bleed off quickly at the end of the application.

All of my cars have RS29’s fitted. Each time my partner drives one she complains of the brakes ‘squeaking’. One quick and hard application to clean them off and they stop squealing and are fine again.

You don’t need to be aggressive, just be nice and smooth but more digital with the application
