Goodwood 23rd April PCGB. Phers going?
Discussion
Any PHers going to Goodwood tomorrow? Forecast suggests light rain - I'm not sure that Goodwood will be so good in the wet..its a fast circuit and poor grip is unlikely to inspire the confidence to exploit it.
Here's hoping it stays (mostly) dry! Fordwater flat out. What a rush!
I've got two new Pilot Sports on the rear of the car - and I can hear them quaking in fear from here!

Get a hundred miles or so on them to remove the release agent, and ideally put them through two or three heat cycles. The best analogy I heard was of the slipperyness you experience when trying to walk with new leather soles on your shoes...

Already had the first heat cycle...I'm relying on the journey there to finish the job. But I'll be taking it easy in the first session anyway.
I know tyre wear is phenomenal due to tread squirm - but there was no help for it...the previous two weren't quite illegal - but certainly would have been on the way home if I'd kept 'em on!

Yes, nice to meet you Glenn - I noticed you'd disappeared. Do you have some sort of sports exhaust, or something? Why didn't they pick it up at the static check?
Yep - managed to stay on the black bits - although it was very, very slippery!
I had two new tyres on the back - which were slightly overinfalted. Turned into very overinflated with a bit of heat and, boy, did I know about it! Massive oversteer at St Mary's. Got the pressure back down and the oversteer nicely went away.
The track dried out by the very end of the day and my last session (at 4:50pm!) was actually on a dry track - but by then my confidence in the levels of grip wasn't high enough to really put in a quick one...that and accelerating out of Madgewick heading for Fordwater (at 110mph) I had to brake to a stop to avoid two Pheasants that ambled out onto the circuit!
They'd have taken the front skirt out at that pace.

I could have stayed quieter, but thought sod it due to the weather anyway.
Glad you got at least one dry lap, were there many spinners during the day ???
G.
The rain eased right off by lunchtime and then stopped. The standing water cleared remarkably quickly, the rest of the day was fabulous. No spinners, just a couple of mild grasscutters (heard of two). Everyone (me) was taking things a little steady just in case it was still damp offline.
Well, everyone except the two blue GT3's and the madman in the Clubsport..... (no names.... fnar, fnar)

It was a somewhat trousering moment...do I go right, do I go left...it was running about like a headless chicken left and right...I've hit one before and they, sort of, explode and make such an unbelievable mess....possibly of the car! So I did my best to slow and not hit it...phew!

Did we meet on the day, Vic? Do you do a lot of PCGB days? Which car were you in?

Next time say hello! Bright red Boxster S. Slightly (!) fat greying bloke earnestly reading Circuit Guide and wondering why that chap in the well-driven 964 was quicker... etc etc
