In the old days (Sky Hd) we would just put an HD or multi room box into an HDMI matrix for each member of the family.

They can all then happily wander round the house and watch their own box in whichever room they wanted. Not cheap, but it works, and where people just want an elegant easy to use system cost isn’t always a massive driver.

No we have SKY Q, which is brilliant for most people (although I still think different family members should have their own profile). So now I can’t find an elegant way of Mum, Dad, and each of the three kids all having access to whatever they want on any of the eleven TVs in the house (it’s not my house, or at least not one that will let them all watch at once.

Any ideas? The only one I have at the minute is two of the main boxes, with two mini boxes linked to one and another mini box linked to the other, but that does get very expensive, especially with the matrix as well.

Maybe I’m missing something but could you not run 1 main box with 4 mini’s which I believe is the maximum?

They are/we’re £99 each and no additional subscription so pretty reasonable really.

You can only watch in three boxes at a time, even though you have five. That’s the problem.

Maybe wait a year and see what sky do?
They are supposed to be launching an online system, maybe that will offer some flexibility?
If they offer a system like Netflix or amazon where you log onto your own account then your problem will be gone without the need for expensive matrix systems.
