2018 Discovery - 3.0 Td6 not the D300?
Discussion
Hi All, first post here.
Just about to purchase a 2018 Discovery from the local Norwich dealership. I should have done some more research but figured the 3.0 diesel engine would be the same as the Velar, i.e. the D300.
However, the Disco is still sold with the less powerful, less economical TD6.
Anyone have any thoughts as to why this is? I have a feeling I'll drive out of the showroom and they'll announce the D300. The brand is new to me (currently drive a Merc GLE) and is quite a big purchase so I want it to feel right.
I'll probably go with it but, I thought I'd get some opinions here. I went to the local dealer this PM and asked about it, he told me the TD6 is better at pulling stuff - not sure why he would think this since the D300 makes more torque!
1. Does it really matter, TD6 vs D300? The new 2.0 version makes almost as much power as the TD6!!
2. Does anyone know if there are plans to replace the TD6 with the D300 this year?
3. Will it impact values on a PCP?
4. Am I entitled to a deposit refund if I change my mind? I've put £1000 down but not signed the docs - sales sent them over as a PDF and my printer has at my office.
Thanks, Robert.

I think the D300 and TDV6/SDV6 is the same 3.0 Ford derived AJD turbo diesel. It's less economical due to probably the size of the Discovery vs. the Velar and power could well be alinged with what Land Rover deem the Discovery to handle vs. the Velar. Again I could be wrong but looking at it seems right.Just about to purchase a 2018 Discovery from the local Norwich dealership. The TD6 hasnt been in the Land Rover line up since the 3.0 Range Rover BMW based engine. I think the rest of your questions therefore answer yourself.

I did read that the new Ingenium engines will be coming out in 6 cylinders at some point so maybe worth asking the dealership?
