Back to work this morning to find someone has hit my 325ti. It was parked up last Thursday as I couldn't get it home due to weather.

Any ideas how much at a bodyshop? Front Wing (that was a bit rusty anyway and needed replaced) and I think the door needs replaced, it's pretty creased too. I'll try and get a better picture in a bit.

And how big a DIY job is it? is everything just bolt on?

I'd be looking for 2nd-hand parts and getting them fitted rather than new...

Insurance will just write it off. BMW dealer price for new wing, new door skin, lots of labour and paint.

Same here considering the rest of the car may be rusty even where you can't see the rust, I would try to find a same coloured wing at a breakers' and forget about the door completely.

Wing is bolt on, easy repair. Just hammer your torx socket into the wing bolts first.

If wheel took a hit (it might have) suspension might need a check too

Worth checking the tracking, but the wing's damage seems to be behind the arch itself. It certainly won't have done any real damage.

Car is otherwise solid, and just weeks ago had £400 spent for its MOT (Brake lines, routed correctly over tank) and new pads/discs.

The wheel doesn't seem to have taken a hit and the door still opens/closes perfectly.

Annoyingly, I am trying to sell it so I can get something to let my learner daughter (17) practise in and eventually insure herself when she passes.

Good to know the wing is bolt on, If I could just find a breaker in this lovely colour hehe

Trouble is, most of my free time is now taken up keeping our rally car project ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... ) in fine fettle.

Oh well, I'll have a think about it. Might just put it to auction as damaged reparable and cut my losses.

Thanks for the feedback.

Recent quote for my Golf was £1400 for:

Second hand drivers door repainted and window/electrics swapped over.
Pull out dent in sill below the driver door and respray/unseal.
Fill and respray rear passenger door and rear wheel arch.
Blend in front arch.

So if the door was £200 then £240/panel to paint.

This ^^^

Around £250-300 per panel for reasonable paint job plus the cost of parts, wherever you choose to source them from. Front door might be able to be filled and painted?

Looks like the only sensible way forward is pop the indicator back in and wait for a breaker in the right colour.
