HI all

Completing a few jobs on my recently acquired Griffith 500, the long intake pipe on mine has few wear marks and I have been looking at the ACT kit here:
http://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/ti007b-later-...

However despite scanning the internet I cant see where the cone filter locates, is it behind or infront of the radiator? Or would I be better with just the pipework and replacing the current panel filter for K&N or OE?

New to TVR ownership so learning as I go on.

Mine is a cone filter above the radiator right up in the nose. It isn't a 500 though, so yours may be different.

Does it have a panel filter at present?

My '97 Griff 500 has a panel filter as standard. The filter is in the very nose of the car above and in front of the radiator....the most dirt/water collecting place that TVR could find!

When removing the filter try not to drop your spanner down between the rad and the wire mesh grill.

Although the OE air filter is a pig to get to and remove and re fit, it is ideally sited to draw cool / dense air in.
When i fitted a cone type air filter to one of my R5 GT Turbos, the car lost power when hot, due to it drawing in hot air from the engine bay, so i am not convinced that a cone filter at the end of the intake tube is a good idea ?
Any dyno tests on the 2 filter types ?

If yours is an early 500 like mine itll have the older circular pipercross filter tucked up just in front of the radiator i swapped mine ages ago for the smoothbore hose elbow and k&n type filter bit of a bugger to fit . Later 500s have the panel filter . Best have a look before ordering .

My '96 Griffith 500 definitely has a panel filter. I was keen to see if it was worth upgrading to the cone filter when purchasing the intake pipes but wasn't sure if this sites in front or behind the radiator and if there would be any benefit of the cone v panel.

All i can say Matt is that when i replaced the air filter on my late 500, is OMG !
A pain in the back ( literally, as my back is shot ) to fit it, but ye gods did that new filter liberate some power !
Likewise did fitting a new intake tube, as the original one was collapsing.
