Hello,
I have a 2007 TDV8 Vogue. Bought it 4 years ago from a colleague with 50k miles on it in immaculate nick.It has been a brilliant motor. I've put 30k on it since buying and had it serviced under the arches with some guys I trust. (I have no technical knowledge). Driving along about two weeks ago and all of sudden all hell broke loose on the dashboard - Warning lights - ABS started stuttering - Air suspension failure etc etc. Managed to get it home, turned engine off. Tried to start again and battery flat. The AA guy came out and jumped it. All driving fine again. My guys recommended I take to an independent RR specialist (Dealers too expensive). They saw all of the faults and checked the systems but thought it might be an electrical issue. They suggested I have it fully serviced with them, which I did (£1,100). This was the 75k mile service. Changed all oil, brake fluids etc...

...Drove 50 miles out of the garage and 'Engine system failure' appeared on my screen. Lost power and idled it back to the garage. They have now said that one of the turbos has gone (best to replace both) £3500.

Have never had any issues previous to this and have a gut feeling that something isn't right. Can anyone help? Does this happen often? Is it coincidence? Many thanks for all your help.

I'd suggest your first issue was down to a power problem. These are electrically complicated vehicles & failing batteries cause apparent major problems which are usually resolved with a new battery.
Has the battery been replaced or are you still relying on the old one & if so was it fully recharged using a battery charger? Don't expect the alternator to fully charge a flat battery, not what they are designed to do & you may damage the alternator if you keep asking it to try:

For your latest problem I'd suggest you'd be better on a model specific forum such as: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post315930.html

Check the battery terminals and consider replacing the battery, particularly if it’s still the original one. Also worth checking any obvious earths

My parents old 2006 S/C started showing a number of random faults a while back, it was a dodgy terminal connection, more recently it returned and was cured by a new battery

I certainly wouldn’t be throwing new turbos at a car that’s been known to throw spurious faults and has gone into limp mode

Thanks so much for your comments. I think a second opinion can't do any harm. Much appreciated.
