I am looking at these as a bit of a left field option. Does anyone own one? Which specification would you recommend? Any known issues? Reliability? MPG?

Hi there,

I used to have a 2011 1.4 turbo in Veloce spec with 170 hp. It was pretty nippy & got around 35 mpg. I had an issue with the gearbox synchro on my car but loved it to bits & would definitley have another.

I think veloce was top spec in the non facelifted version of the car (other than the 1.7 turbo model.)

Cheers,

Danny

I've had a 1.4 multiair TCT Giulietta from new in 2015. Mechanically speaking no reliability problems. A few niggles covered under warranty (faulty DAB radio, trim ,etc.). Performance good. Nice engine sound. Mine is Exclusive spec which has everything you need. I've found it also has nice less obvious spec compared to other similar-sized cars (puddle lighting, auto dimming rear view mirror, ability to permanently disable idle stop system, that kind of thing).

Mpg is 33 according to the computer which has never been reset. I'm getting rid soon as it's not proving practical now we have a baby - it's quite small in the back. Good cars for the money and best looking car in its class IMO.

I wouldn't class these as a normal choice now the 1.4 drivetrain is well proven, trim wise look for a Sportiva/Sportiva Nav dependent on budget.

I had a (new) 2014 QV with the DSG gearbox and it was great; much better looking than the Golf Gti and with the same ICE technology. Handled well and the engine note was excellent. Fast too.

However, the gearbox was slightly temperamental. Not all of the time but sometimes. A little clunky if cold. Sometimes refused auto and made me use paddle shift for no reason, refusing to use auto. Great when it worked (95% of the time) bit worrying when it didn't. Never had a Golf DSG so unsure of the reliability comparison.

My Guiletta QV never broke down, the gearbox was just somewhat... temperamental.. sometimes..
