Hi Guys
Its panic time here at Tonkaland , got my new clutch and about to remove my 4 speed howling gearbox for recon next week ready for Stoneleigh ,horror of horrors they cant do it for another week at least so that is me well and truly up the thingy without a wotsit.
So choices , bearing in mind mine is 1.7 and all Harrier based....
1) - been offered a 1300 box , will this do for now with my clutch?
2) think I can get mark 3 Cortina 1600 x-flow box , or is it longer?
3) go 5 speed but reluctant as with my cam there is about as much pulling power as a broken elastic band below 2000rpm
4) One club member has already offered a suitable 4 speed box but could do with something nearer to home (Doncaster)as I am not in a position to travel far from home at the moment.....
Thanks in advance
Mark

Mark, the 1.3 box will probably do if you take it easy. The only issue will be the clutch - try the friction plate over the gearbox input shaft - if the splines match it'll fit. Also check prop against the output flange. I'd be surprised if nothing matches up.
Its likely that only the ratios are different in the box to suit the particular engine.
Swizz...

My Geep has a 1600 x-flow with the original 4 spd 1300 box that I built it with. Admittedly I haven't used it all that much with this combination, but it showed no signs of giving up after the engine change.
I did put a new clutch plate in when I made the change..
Hope this helps!
