£5k ish budget Help Needed!
Discussion
Hi,
Thanks in advance for any help!
I have about £5k (maybe slightly more) to buy a car but was wondering what peoples opinions on what I can get for more money, so this is what I want if possible
Comfy seats and ride
bit of power when needed
good MPG
and low mileage if possible
Struggling to find something as they seem to be high mileage cars.
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry that was very brief, so would prefer midsized car like a BMW 3 series and about 40 mpg would be great.
I do 20 mile commute to work but sometimes have to go on customer visits so not sure if diesels the way to go reading what some people say, I would like a diesel mainly for the torque and tune ability.
Prefer coupe looking cars but again just seeing what other options I might not be look at
One last thing, I'm always worried about buying high mileage cars are they as bad as people make out?
Thanks

Look for receipts showing the vehicle has been maintained obviously the lower the miles the better as a higher mileage car will have more worn suspension/bushes components.
If you want a coupe & a diesel then I can think of two options:
CLK270 Avantgarde (IMO this is a better engine than the 220)

CLK220cdi Sport

BMW 320d (but there are potential timing chain issues)

If you don't mind a saloon:
330d M Sport

Or convertible:

Or there's the leftfield option of a Megane RS175:
