Bible code - hidden messages
Discussion
This is NOT a religeous thread. It is a massive puzzle.
I have yet to read the books on the subject, but I have recently been looking into it online. Im the least religious person you'll ever meet, but I do have an open mind for the intriguing mystery. Isaac Newton spent a large portion of his life dedicated to solving this mystery. Here's a quick summary for those not yet introduced to this strange puzzle...
The original Bible was written in Hebrew. It contains one long chapter called the Torah, of which is generally regarded as the most important part. This is usually learn't letter for letter by followers of the Jewish faith. It is said that if you only read one part of the Bible (which I had never done) you should read this part only. It is said that the Torah contains "All that ever was and all that ever will be". One the face of it this Torah just describes a straight forward story. However, hidden within this text are many hidden messages. Now, considering no letter of the Torah has ever been changed, this part of the puzzle can be said to be impervious to differing interpretation. It is set in black and white for anyone to see, copy, print out etc.
Now the tricky part. How do you access the hidden messages in this set paragraph of text? Simply by only reading (for example) every 50th letter in the long paragraph. This would be called a "step" count of 50. What happens is you do this then? Well, every fiftieth letter placed next to each other would read out TORAH, throughout the entire paragraph, repeatedly. Seems like the first clue that something odd is going on.
The thing is you can make up your own "step" count and reveal hidden messages that lie within. This could be done using a print out and pencil, although you may get bored if you have a step count of 17350, for example! This is where computer programs come into handy and why we have only recently made much progress into the puzzle.
The biggest clue; in the Torah, the most important sentence is where the ten commandments are introduced very early on. The sentence reads thus: "And the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets". Put in the correct step count and this hidden message is clearly revealed within this sentence: "IT WAS MADE BY COMPUTER". So, that's the most important sentence, in the most important paragraph, in the original Hebrew Bible then.
There are so many hidden messages, so have a look. Obviously this raises some crazy ideas. Have a look at this link, but skip about HALFWAY DOWN as the explanations are lower down. The stuff at the top is a bit confusing if you dive in the deep end first.

You're doing this in Hebrew??So what is Hebrew for computer??
Pretty much what I was thinking for the entire text.

BUNK! Using that method you could make up any message you want or get the same messages from any other text of sufficient size.

No laws of probability are violated here, or even stretched a little. That is also true of Drosnin's book, which is the whole point of this page. Once you learn Drosnin's rules (none) and the method (a bit of messy programming) you can find things like this anywhere. The reason it looks amazing is that the number of possible things to look for, and the number of places to look, is much greater than you imagine.

This is where the element of interpretation come in. Im fairly certain Microsoft wasn't around, lol. Please look into the story further before you draw any premature conclusions though. I know it's a little more involved than the usual lightweight stuff on here, but it makes an interesting investigation. If only for something to discuss when you on the beers, and getting in the 'what's the meaning of life' late night nonsense ramble.

WTF?
If you are going to read the bible as a Christian text, then the most important part is the new testament. Some of it directly contradicts the Torah. If you're just intersted in picking pretty patterns of letters out of the bible, then go ahead, but expecting meaning is daft. Might as well choose a dictionary and do the same...
FWIW the Torah was written in hebrew, and the new testament in arameic and ancient greek.
